Emu Hojo (宝生 永夢 Hōjō Emu) is one of the main characters and the main protagonist of Kamen Rider Ex-Aid. He is a trainee in pediatrics working at Seito University Hospital and a genius video gamer who goes by the alias M. He was given a Gamer Driver and the Mighty Action X Gashat by Asuna Karino to become Kamen Rider Ex-Aid (仮面ライダーエグゼイド Kamen Raidā Eguzeido) and destroy the Bugster viruses, to save his patient's life.

History[]

When he was only eight years old, Emu was involved in an accident, leaving him critically injured. After receiving emergency surgery, Emu was given an handheld video game device by one of the doctors as a reward for hanging on. This event would inspire Emu to become a doctor and help children like the one who saved him. How exactly he was saved is unknown, but this surgery appears to have also given him the necessary abilities to use the gashats and gamer driver, as revealed by the doctor who had saved him, now the Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Health, Kyotaro Hinata.

Emu would later on win numerous gaming tournaments under the gaming alias of M, earning the interest of Asuna Karino as a potential candidate for using the Gamer Driver. After one of these tournaments, about six years before he became a Kamen Rider, Emu was captured by Michihiko Zaizen and the Next Genome Institute. During his capture there, they performed experiments and surgeries on Emu, injecting him with the Bugster virus in an attempt to bring the Bugster virus into the real-world. During their last surgery, they were able to properly infect him, but at the cost of disappearing. A couple days later, Emu was rescued, and he suppressed the memory of these events in to what appeared to be a dream.

Emu went on to become a pediatrics intern at Seito University Hospital. One of his patients, Sota Suyama, refused to be treated for his unknown illness and attempted to escape. While trying to catch Sota, Emu ran into Asuna, who was bringing the Gamer Driver while searching for M. When Sota suddenly collapsed, Emu and Asuna noticed unusual lumps emerging from the boy's neck. Not explaining Sota's condition to Emu, Asuna had the latter bring Sota with her to CR. Much to Emu's surprise, the hospital director Haima Kagami was there as well, ordering the intern to stay out. However, Emu disobeyed, hoping to make Sota feel better by bringing him to the release of the Mighty Action X game. Asuna ran into Emu and Sota at the game (believing that M would be at the press release), much to her frustration. However, when she tried to bring Sota back, he suddenly howled in pain and transformed into a Golem-like monster.

Emu finally got Asuna to explain Sota's condition: he was infected by Bugster a computer virus threatening humanity, which could only be stopped by someone capable of using the Gamer Driver and destroying the virus. Determined to save his patient, Emu took the driver (and the accompanying Mighty Action X Gashat) without permission. Much to Asuna's surprise, not only was Emu able to become a Kamen Rider and extract the Salty Bugster from Sota, but he was, in fact, the gamer she was looking for. After transforming into Level 2, Emu defeated the Bugster, saving Sota's life. After checking on the boy, Asuna finally allowed Emu to access CR, and revealed her identity as Kamen Rider navigator, Poppi Pipopapo. She christened Emu as Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, and stated that he must become the super doctor to save humanity from Bugster.

After a point of time, Emu and Poppi Pipopapo went in the CR patient room. Poppi Pipopapo then brings out a VR device designed by Dan and asks Emu to wear it in order to simulate Mighty Action X. Since Emu is totally clueless about what to do, Poppi Pipopapo 'helps' him to start the simulation by knocking him out. In Mighty Action X, Emu faced with a normal Bugster Virus. There, Poppi Pipopapo instructs Emu to transform into Ex-Aid Action Gamer Level 1 and Action Gamer Level 2 and also to activate his Critical Strike finisher using the Kimewaza Slot Holder. After Emu clears the simulation, Poppi Pipopapo bid him goodbye without explaining the reason. Emu tries to chase her, but stumbles from the bed. He was later seen pondering the reason why Poppi Pipopapo is doing this while in pain.

Shortly after getting acquainted with CR and reacquainted with Haima Kagami, Emu met Hiiro Kagami, Haima's son and a genius surgeon, who was working at a prestigious American hospital before being called back to the fight the Bugster as Kamen Rider Brave. Hiiro wasted no time in patronizing and antagonizing Emu, saying the latter's presence was a "No thank you". This caused Emu to doubt his worth to CR. Emu's inexperience became apparent while handling the next patient, Rensuke Natori. Emu went to Level 2 immediately, not realizing he needed to be in Level 1 to extract the Bugster. The Aranbura Bugster was quickly extracted by Brave, but both Ex-Aid and Brave were attacked by the mysterious Kamen Rider Genm, allowing the Bugster to escape and leaving Rensuke in critical condition. Emu was bewildered and disgusted by Hiiro's callous approach to patients: seeing them as just things to fix, and was more concerned with eating cake than Rensuke's well-being.

Hoping to buy time by reducing Rensuke's stress, Emu went to Rensuke's ex-fiancé, Asami, to find out why she called off the wedding. Their discussion led them to the church planned for the ceremony, where they were attacked by the Bugster. Emu transformed into Ex-Aid Level 1, but the Aranbura Bugster threatened to kill Asami if he changed to Level 2. Ex-Aid and Asami were saved by Brave's interference, and the two Riders managed to defeat the Bugster (Brave finished off the Aranbura Bugster). Emu's actions helped Rensuke and Asami restore their engagement. The incident prompted Emu to stay in CR, as he wasn't willing to leave patients in the hands of a doctor who didn't care about them.

Emu ran into a paradox with one of his patients: a boy named Yuki Kitami who, as the result of an operation, had an irrational fear of doctors.

Emu followed after Yuki when the latter tried escaping from the hospital. Soon after he cornered Yuki Emu realized that the boy was infected by Bugster. In an effort to remedy the situation, Emu took off his doctor's jacket and called Asuna for backup. However, a mysterious man in doctor's attire appeared, aggravating Yuki and causing the Bugster to take over his body. The man turned into Kamen Rider Snipe Level 1 and quickly extracted the Revolve Bugster. Emu helped Yuki get to safety, running into Asuna along the way. Yuki's fear of doctors caused the Bugster to regenerate quickly. Emu transformed into Ex-Aid Level 1 in an unsuccessful attempt to stop Snipe, eventually retreating with Yuki and Asuna hoping to calm the boy down.

After getting Yuki to CR, Asuna and Kagami explained that the man who appeared was Taiga Hanaya, a former radiologist and the rider chosen for CR during Zero Day, the initial Bugster outbreak. Failing to convince Yuki that he was safe, Emu got Taiga's location from Poppi, hoping to at least reduce Yuki's stress by convincing Taiga to stay out of the way.

Taiga refused Emu's offer, explaining that he would do what he wanted and his desire to get all ten Gashats to destroy the Bugster. He then challenged Emu to a duel: whomever defeated Revolve would get the others Gashat. Their discussion was interrupted by the Bugster viruses attacking them, but Emu agreed to the duel after he and Taiga transformed into Ex-Aid Level 2 and Snipe Level 2, respectively. The fight was interrupted by Brave, who attacked Snipe in an attempt to take his Gashat. Ex-Aid snapped them out of their fight after reminding them that Yuki's life was at stake.

Yuki's high stress only strengthened Revolve further, draining Ex-Aid and Brave's Rider Gauges with a brutal artillery assault. Rather than de-transform like Brave, Ex-Aid put himself directly in the line of fire, risking getting a lethal Game Over in order to get through to Yuki. Using an Energy Item, he wiped out Revolve's troops before seemingly taking out the Bugster. However, the game remained in progress: it was revealed that the real Revolve had hidden itself before Snipe finished it off. Having lost the duel, Emu's Gashat was taken by Taiga. However, Emu was simply relieved that Yuki was safe.

Sometime after losing his Gashat, Emu was confronted by coroner Kiriya Kujo, who had brought a Bugster victim, Yoshitaka Nishiwaki, with him under the guise of the former being a patient (claiming to be six in the appointment). Much to Emu's shock, Kiriya offered to get his Gashat back. Calling Hiiro to perform the operation, Emu confirmed Nishiwaki's condition and attempted confronting the patient. Hiiro and Asuna arrived for the operation, followed quickly by Kiriya and Taiga, the latter coming under the pretext of a duel. Nishiwaki was quickly taken over by the Bugster, with Kiriya and Taiga turning into Kamen Riders Lazer Level 1 and Snipe Level 1 to extract it.

After the Motors Bugster was extracted from Nishiwaki, Hiiro transformed into Brave and attacked Snipe. Lazer took the opportunity to steal the Mighty Action X Gashat back for Emu and turned into his Level 2 form. Much to everyone's shock, Lazer's Level 2 form was a motorcycle. This explained why Kiriya reached out to Emu: Lazer needed a rider to reach his top speed. Much to Lazer's chagrin, Emu focused on getting Niskiwaki to safety first, allowing the Bugster to get away.

Once Nishiwaki was in CR, he explained that his sister Riko had been kidnapped by another Bugster. Emu promised to save both him and his sister before finding Kiriya. Kiriya offered his friendship to Emu, who accepted. Lazer and Emu challenged Motors to a race, and after a heated and close fight, the two were able to defeat Motors and save Riko. As soon as Riko was safe, Lazer threw off Ex-Aid and denounced his friendship, admitting that he was only after getting a sample of the Bugster due to his curiosity. Unfortunately for Lazer, Motors was destroyed by Genm, who promptly turned into Sports Action Gamer Level 3 to attack the other Riders, depleting their Rider Gauges with the Shakariki Critical Strike.

Searching for the Shakariki Sports Gashat which he needed to save the world, Ex-Aid arrived to fight a pack of Bugster Viruses which were being fought by Kamen Rider Ghost in defense of Ayumu, the mysterious boy who held the Gashat. Mistaken for an enemy by Ghost, whose friends had been attacked by his doppelganger, Ex-Aid found himself attacked but was quickly able to reason with his fellow Rider as he explained that he wished to save lives - the most important thing of all - by changing fate, a sentiment which was respected by Ghost. Alongside Ghost, Ex-Aid tended to Ayumu as they were attacked by his doppelganger, Kamen Rider Genm, who took the Gashat before leaving as soon as he came. Ghost apologized but Ex-Aid assured him that it was alright for now as Ayumu was safe. After defeating a further horde of Bugster Viruses together, Ex-Aid predicted to Takeru that they would meet again soon before leaving him an Ex-Aid Ghost Eyecon as a gift as he took his leave, with Takeru noting that he had connected to another person's feelings.

Emu ran around the street, wailing because he's waking up late and that he'll be late to work. Suddenly, a hooded man asks for his help, and Emu stumbles upon a pile of trash before coming to help. After Emu scans him using his special stethoscope, he is about to transform when Asuna and Hiiro arrive. They both warn him that his patient is actually a thief who stole all newly developed gashats (Gekitotsu Robots, DoReMiFa Beat, Giri Giri Chambara and Jet Combat). This shocks Emu, but regardless of that fact, Emu still wants to cure him. However, a sudden quarrel with Hiiro allows him to escape. When the trio gave chase, a new Bugster arrives, with the Gekitotsu Robots Gashat installed on it's head. Emu and Hiiro transformed into Ex-Aid Level 2 and Brave Level 2 to fight the Bugster. However, the Bugster is powerful enough to deplete some of Ex-Aid and Brave's Rider Gauges. To make things even worse, Genm in Level 2 appeared and transformed into Sports Action Gamer Level 3 before beating Ex-Aid and Brave. Genm himself had vanished along with the Bugster. While Emu was busy searching the patient, Kiriya appeared and said that Genm's true identity is the patient himself.

Back at the CR, Emu meets Kuroto Dan and they exchange a rather warm welcome. Emu is still not wavering about his choice to save that patient, but Hiiro, sick of Emu's idealism, grabs him by the collar. Emu angrily states that Hiiro wasn't a doctor before he fled to a helipad. There, he was confronted by Dan again. Emu explains that he just can't let the patient become a Bugster. Dan compliments him that his heart is like a shining crystal, but once a malicious patient shatters it, the crystal won't able to shine again. Emu states that he'll save the patient anyway, since he'll regret if he even abandon his patient, before giving chase to the patient again.

At an Avenue, Emu confronts the Collabos Bugster. Suddenly, Hiiro, Taiga and Kiriya appeared. Taiga challenges them all to a game. Whoever claims the Gekitotsu Robots Gashat gets to keep it as a prize. However, Kiriya states that he has other business to tend to, as Genm appeared, already in Level 3. Hiiro, Taiga and Kiriya transformed into Brave Level 2, Snipe Level 2 and Lazer Level 1 to fight Genm and the Collabos Bugster. However, to make things even worse, the patient, using the Gashacon Bugvisor, transformed into the Graphite Bugster. An enraged Snipe attacks Graphite.

Without breaking a sweat, Genm & Collabos manage to deplete Brave and Lazer's Rider Gauges, effectively cancelling their transformation. Snipe also unable to defeat Graphite, also cancels his transformation. Genm then chokes Emu, provoking him. Genm states that Emu's idealism doesn't work on the real battlefield. For Genm, Might makes Right. This statement finally causes Emu to snap, transforming into Ex-Aid Level 2 out of rage.

Shortly, using Mighty Critical Finish, Emu destroys the Collabos Bugster and claims the Gekitotsu Robots Gashat. Using the newly acquired Gashat, Emu transforms into Robot Action Gamer Level 3 and finally beating Genm. However, Genm manages to flee, with Emu roaring in rage before cancelling his transformation.

Emu comes to Genm Office and hand Gekitotsu Robots Gashat back to Kuroto Dan. Dan politely refuse, and say that since Emu's the one who win the Gashat fair and square, he could keep the it. Emu thanked Dan before leaving to meet a victim of Robots Collabos attack. Uberknowst to him, Dan already record his Level 3 data for later use.

Emu and Asuna later seen at Kiyosora to meet the victim, Seiichi Kuboyama. Seiichi Girlfriend, Yoko ask for a Break in their relationship which Seiichi half halfheartedly agree before he left. Suddenly, Yoko fall down, already infected by Game disease after Emu checked her using his Special Stethoscope. Hiiro suddenly appeared and decide to operate Yoko, much to Emu chagrin. After Yoko turned into Bugster Union, Hiiro transformed into Brave Level 1 and quickly extracted Yoko from the Bugster. Graphite, in his human form soon make his appearance and confronts the doctor riders. He claims that he'd infected Yoko using two game viruses (Gekitotsu Robots & DoReMiFa Beat), and this prompted Emu to join the fray as Ex-Aid Level 1. Beat Collabos then attacked Ex-Aid and Brave using Rhythm based attack. Ex-Aid manage to get a perfect, but Brave get a miss and Damaged in process. After Graphite assume his Bugster form, Ex-Aid changed into Robot Action Gamer Level 3, while Brave into Level 2. Snipe in Level 2 also comes not long after, but Graphite use Gekidoryuga and severely damaged Brave and Snipe (Although they do attempt a counter attack) while Ex-Aid is barely holding on. Before Ex-Aid and Graphite could battle any further, Genm Sports Action Gamer Level 3 appeared and ordered Graphite to retreat, which the latter begrudgingly agreeing.

After they all cancel their transformation, Emu stop the quarrel between Hiiro and Taiga, also overheard about Hiiro late Girlfriend, Saki. After he and Asuna brought Yoko to CR to be quarantined, Emu heard from Haima and Asuna about Hiiro past five years ago. Then, Emu and Asuna goes to check Yoko again. Yoko Explained that Seiichi tried to join a famous orchestra, but always failed in every audition. That's why she want to keep her disease a secret, so that Seiichi could concentrate on his next audition. Suddenly, after he receive the bugster coordinate, Yoko become stressed and beg Emu to save Seiichi. Emu Promise that he'll save both Yoko and Seiichi before he left.

Shortly, Emu manage to confront Beat Collabos by transforming into Ex-Aid Robot Action Gamer Level 3, while Hiiro's still busy with his personal Vendetta against Graphite by transforming into Brave Level 2. As Graphite's about to finish Hiiro off, Ex-Aid jumped in front of him and took the damage, effectively cancelling his transformation. Emu then told Brave about Yoko current condition and relate Saki with Yoko, as he believe that Saki's keeping her Game disease a secret in order to let Hiiro continue his study without worry. Emu was later carried by Asuna as they witness Brave defeat Beat Collabos, acquire DoReMiFa Beat Gashat and use the new Gashat to change into Beat Quest Gamer Level 3 and defeat Graphite.

At some point after gaining the Gekitotsu Robots gashat, Ex-Aid fought against a couple of kaiju, and met FoxMask in the process. After defeating the kaiju, Emu explained how the Gashats worked, and what he knew of the of the Bugster virus to FoxMask, before running off, remembering that he had an operation that day.

Emu and Hiiro transform into Ex-Aid and Brave Level 1 as a giant serpent dragon Bugster Union with a head on each end forms from the patient. Director Kagami quickly sees the battle could wreck CR's patient ward and indicates (through a soundproof window) to move the fight; Ex-Aid uses his Driver's Stage Select to relocate them to a rocky shoreline. The Riders defeat the Bugster Union, releasing a pair of Collabos Bugsters, the Giri Giri Collabos and the Jet Collabos, but Genm Sports Action Gamer Level 3 arrives, prompting the Riders to take their Level 3 forms. Ex-Aid fights the Giri Giri Collabos while Brave fights Genm; the Collabos is too quick for Ex-Aid to attack, and Genm's flywheel distracts the Riders while he and the Bugsters escape. Seeing their signals have disappeared, Taiga leaves his makeshift office, heading somewhere.

As the doctors discuss the black Ex-Aid, Kiriya walks in and offers his help. He repeats that he had a friend die on Zero Day, but Emu says he'd already admitted that was a lie. Hiiro says he also lied about Graphite being Genm, deciding Kiriya to be untrustable. In the patient ward, Yoshio tells his daughter, Shiori, to again leave and quit fussing over him. Emu tells him not to stress himself, that the Bugster infection is potentially fatal, prompting a watching Kiriya to remember when he'd once told the same thing to his friend Jungo Aihara after sneaking documents from the Ministry of Health; Jungo had run off after hearing it. Yoshio fires his daughter from his factory where she works, making her run off, but Kiriya stops Emu from chasing her; he says that telling patients the truth about their condition can sometimes be the wrong action, that Yoshio is distancing his daughter from him for her own sake. Asuna then reports that the Bugster is making its move.

Emu and Kiriya intercept the Giri Giri Collabos chasing Shiori, but Hiiro arrives and transforms into Brave Level 2; he fights the Collabos but is attacked by Genm Level 2. Kiriya again offers to team up, promising no more lies; Emu decides to trust him, and the two transform to Ex-Aid and Lazer Level 2. The two rush the Giri Giri Collabos, Ex-Aid slicing its samurai sword before it can use it, then defeating it with a Bakusou Critical Finish using Lazer's Gashat in his Blade Mode Gashacon Breaker and clearing Giri Giri Chambara. Ex-Aid uses the new Gashat in Lazer's Driver, letting him take his Chambara Bike Gamer Level 3 form, giving Lazer a humanoid form. Lazer then reveals Genm's identity as Kuroto Dan, Genm Corp.'s CEO; Genm responds by assuming Sports Action Gamer Level 3, and Lazer summons the Gashacon Sparrow in Sickle Mode and attacks. Elsewhere, Snipe Level 2 is fighting with the Jet Collabos, but it escapes. Giri Giri Chambara's power and skill gives Lazer the upper hand against Genm, and he switches the Sparrow back to Arrow Mode and fires a Giri Giri Critical Finish, battering Genm; however, Parad arrives and secretly blocks part of the attack. Lazer expects to show Ex-Aid and Brave that Kuroto is indeed Genm, but as the flames disperse, only Parad is standing there, with both Genm's Gamer Driver and Proto Mighty Action X Gashat, thanking the Riders for the battle; he turns and disappears.

Parad returns the Driver and Gashat to Kuroto, saying that changing a single piece of the puzzle can hide the truth. As they predict, neither Emu nor Hiiro trusts Kiriya any longer. Hiiro reveals that Kiriya did have a friend that died 5 years prior, but of an accident and not the Bugsters, claiming the Gashat was all Kiriya was after by helping them. As Emu questions what kind of person he really is, Kiriya remembers seeing his friend dead from his earlier dream, that him telling Jungo about the Bugster infection's possibly fatal nature had apparently caused him to kill himself before the virus could. However, Kiriya only laughs at how his present situation has turned against him; he casually agrees he was only after the Gashat, telling Emu not to be so trusting as he walks away.

Soon after, Snipe acquires level 3, using the Jet Combat gashat, while also interrupting one of Ex-Aid and Brave's operations, taking the Bugster hostage and challenging both of the Riders to a fight. Once the Riders arrive, he quickly defeats both of them with his long-range capabilities, taking both the DoReMiFa Beats Gashat and the Gekitotsu Robots gashats, and destroying the Bugster in the process. With the Gashats lost, Ex-Aid and Brave both retreated, leaving Snipe with his prizes, while he tells them that don't understand the true purpose of the gashats.

After this event, Emu would head back to CR, where everyone started to freak out over the lost Gashats, causing a bit of a panic, before one of the devices detected a Bugster being created. This led Emu to rush to the scene, where Keisuke Jin, one of the Legendary 7 Kamen Riders, was already in the midst of combat against the remaining forces of G.O.D. led by Starfish-Hitler, who had allowed himself to become infected by the Bugster. Emu, holding onto his belief that the disease should be cured, ran into battle, trying to stop X-Rider from being infected by the Bugster, and preventing the disease from spreading further. X-Rider moved him out of the way when he ran between Starfish-Hitler's attack, and X-Rider's own. To counter this, Emu transformed into Level 1, trying to separate the Bugster from Starfish-Hitler.

During the battle with X-Rider, Starfish-Hitler had his troops set bombs along the shore, planning to spread the Bugster virus through the water supply of Japan. Ex-Aid noticed this, and asked from Kamen Rider X to stop him from completing his plans, while he separated the Bugster. Once the Bugster was separated from Starfish-Hitler, Ex-Aid fought the Bugster, while X-Rider fought Starfish-Hitler using his Ridol stick to beat Starfish-Hitler. Once the Bugster, and Starfish-Hitler were injured enough, both Riders activated their finisher Rider Kicks, destroying the Bugster and the Akuninkaijin simultaneously, preventing the Bugster virus from spreading.

After the battle, Emu and Keisuke both de-henshined, bowing to each other, with Keisuke acknowledging Emu as a true Kamen Rider, with Emu shocked by the gesture. After acknowledging him as Rider, Keisuke rode off into the sunset, with Emu headed back to CR, smiling.

Later, after Emu and the others learned that the Deputy Director-General would be coming to inspect the facilities, they began to clean up the CR, before Emu explained that Kyotaro had been the doctor that had saved his life when he was younger. Soon after, Kyotaro was shown entering the building, before being infected with the Bugster virus by Graphite. With this revelation, Emu and the others go to retrieve Kyotaro, and bring him back to CR.

After setting up the system to detect the Bugster in Kyotaro's body, Emu and Kyotaro talk for the first time since Emu's operation, Emu tells him that he will save his life, wanting to return the favor, since Kyotaro had given him a second lease on life. After confirming that it was the Bugster virus that Graphite had infected him with, Emu recalls that the virus was the same as the virus within Graphite.

When Hiiro arrives to perform the operation, Emu explains that the Bugster hasn't broken out yet, and tries to stop Hiiro from transforming. Hiiro proclaimed that he would just take the Bugster out instead, since it hadn't broken out, with the two doctors arguing over the operation, before transforming, causing the Bugster to appear.

With the Bugster out of Kyotaro's body for the time being, Ex-Aid selected the stage so that the two of them could fight the Bugster. Immediately after being transported there, the Bugster seemed to disappear, before emerging from the water, roaring at the two of them, with Ex-Aid recognizing it as the dragon from Drago Knight Hunter Z, and explaining the game to Hiiro. Suddenly, Graphite himself appeared in the battle, with the two Riders wondering why he was going after Kyotaro. He explained his plan to them, telling them that he wanted to create more Bugsters, and to have an army of complete Bugsters, before transforming.

After transforming, the Riders and Graphite proceed to battle, before the dragon re-emerges from the water, grabbing Ex-Aid and flying away with him, leaving Brave to battle Graphite. Soon after, Ex-Aid is dropped into the water, before jumping up, hitting the dragon bugster a vouple times with his hammer, before being sent back. When he and Brave recoved, Graphite used his Blackest Dragon Slash against the two, almost depleting their health bars, before disappearing with the other Bugster.

Back at the CR, Emu looked over Kyotaro, worried, before explaining to Hiiro that the patient's safety is the first priority, asking him what would happen if something were to happen to Kyotaro. After arguing for several minutes over the situation, Dan Kuroto appeared, explaining that they wouldn't be able to beat Graphite if they didn't work together, revealing the Drago Knight Hunter Z gashat, and telling them that it was the key to defeating Graphite, and telling them about the Level 5 gashat. He explained that the gashat was actually unfinished, and that they required data from a Hunter Gamer, which was the dragon they fought previously. He asked them to beat the game, and help him complete the gashat.

Hiiro initially volunteered, with Dan about to hand him the gashat, before Emu stopped Hiiro, explaining that Kyotaro meant a lot to him, stating that he would be the one who saved him. Dan explained that the gashat was different from the others, as it was a more challenging game, and was designed for four-player co-op, saying that it would be dangerous to use alone, before Emu snatches the gashat, saying that he would clear the game. Emu would visit Kyotaro soon, asking if he was alright, before Kyotaro explained that Graphite would try to infect a large number of people at the same time to try and stress out Kyotaro, and speed up the dragon's growth.

Hearing this, Emu ran out of CR, heading for a crowded area, where people had started to collapse due to the Bugster virus. After locating Graphite, and the source of the infection area, Emu headed there, transforming into Ex-Aid again, planning on fighting against Graphite at level 2, selecting the stage again, sending the two to a grassy area. Before he can attack; however, the dragon returns, flying above him to which Ex-Aid jumped on the dragon's leg, leaving Brave to deal with Graphite again. After flying away from Brave and Graphite's battle, Snipe appeared, firing on the dragon, before demanding Ex-Aid give him the gashat.

Initially acting like he was going to give up the gashat, Ex-Aid ran past Snipe, taking several blasts from his Gashacon Magnum, and even taking a Gekitotsu Critical Finish head-on, causing the Drago Knight Hunter Z gashat to fly into Snipe's hands for a moment. Ex-Aid stands up, demanding he give back the gashat, before deflecting several consecutive blasts from Snipe's weapon, grabbing a power-up in the process, increasing his attack strength enough to deal damage to Snipe's level 3 form, and knocking the Drago Knight Hunter Z gashat from his hands.

Soon afterwards, Snipe was attacked by the dragon again, enduring an aerial battle, before Ex-Aid activated his critical finish, along with Brave's taking Brave's sword for the time being and destroying the dragon, collecting the necessary data from the dragon. After having completed the gashat, Ex-Aid uses the gashat to achieve his Full Dragon Level 5 form, taking on the dragon's power by himself, transporting himself, Graphite, and the other Riders to another location. After achieving this form, Ex-Aid suddenly starts to get electrocuted, the power too great for him, causing him to rampage and attack both Graphite, and the other Riders, spraying fire from his armor. In this state, he was able to take Grpahite's attacks head-on, before stabbing him in the chest. After this attack, he was forcefully de-transformed, and teleported back to the rooftop he found Graphite on, injured heavily.

After this battle, Asuna helps Emu to get back to Emu, where Asuna explains to Kyotaro that Emu's injuries came from using the Drago Knight Hunter Z gashat alone. Hearing this, Kyotaro begins to scold Emu, before explaining that doctors cannot perform surgeries alone, and must have a reliable team to work with for a successful operation. Hearing this, Emu decided to try and get the other Riders to help him with the operation by explaining to them about the gashat. Upon hearing this, the other Riders abandoned Emu on the rooftop and went their separate ways. Soon after, Emu called each of the other three Riders individually, explaining that he would give the selected doctor the gashat, intending to draw them all in one place.

Once Hiiro/Brave arrives at the designated meeting place, he demands that Emu hand over the gashat before Snipe and Lazer also appear, making similar demands. Emu explained that he had them come here so whoever beat him could have the gashat, before activating his Mighty Action X gashat, with the others transforming as well, before they assumed their respective level 3 forms. Seeing this, Ex-Aid proceeded to activate the Drago Knight Hunter Z gashat, and assumed his level 5 form to fight the others. In the process of the fight, he was able to regain his Gekitotsu Robots gashat from Lazer, who had taken it from Snipe previously. After being hit by the three Rider's combined level 3 Critical Strikes, the Hunter Gamer separated from Emu, before being split into four different "multi-player" gashats.

After acquiring the Level 5 Dragon Fang gashat, Ex-Aid selected the stage, taking both he, the other Riders, and Graphite to a nearby empty Quarry, where Graphite proceeded to use the Proto-Drago Knight Hunter Z gashat to assume his upgraded Bugster form. With him assuming his form, the Riders used their individual gashats to assume their level 5 forms, with Emu first assuming his Full Dragon form, before the extra armor broke away, leaving him in his Level 5 Dragon Fang form. During the battle, each of the Riders would try one-up the others by attacking Graphite, before forming some resemblance to team work. At the end of the battle, each of the Riders used their Level 5 Critical Finishers to destroy Graphite together. After the battle, the Riders were sent back to the initial location, with the multi-player gashats being reformed into the normal Drago Knight Hunter gashat. Back at the original meeting place, each Rider said that their attack was the one that finished off Graphite, before demanding the gashat again.

During their argument, Asuna stepped in as Poppi Pipopapo to call it a tie. With each of the Riders accepting this answer, they disappeared in their separate directions, leaving Asuna and Emu alone. Back at the CR, Emu and Kyotaro talk for a little while, with both thanking the other for their help., before Kyotaro explains that the Ministry of Health will handle the public on the outbreak of the Bugster virus caused by Graphite, before leaving Emu and the others, with Emu returning to his job.

Shortly after these events, Ex-Aid and the others would come up against a menace known as Dr. Pac-Man, during which Ex-Aid would team up with his predecessors, Kamen Riders Wizard, Gaim, Drive, and Ghost, with Ghost and Ex-Aid using each other's powers in the forms of Ex-Aid Damashii, and the Ghost Gamer forms. During this battle, Dr. Pac-Man managed to escape, having faked his death/destruction at the hands of the Riders.

After these events, Emu bid farewell to Ghost and the others, before going to return the Kaigan Ghost gashat to Kuroto Dan. On the way there, he and Asuna were attacked by a Collabos Bugster using the Proto Gekitotsu Robots gashat. Using the Kaigan Ghost gashat, Ex-Aid attacked the Bugster, but was beaten back until the timely arrival of Dan himself. Swapping his gashat out for the Full Throttle Drive gashat, Ex-Aid was able to overwhelm the Bugster, and take the gashat. After giving the gashat back to Dan, the Bugster, still alive, inserted the Proto Giri Giri Chambara gashat, and changed forms. Noticing this, Ex-Aid swapped out his gashats again, using Toukenden Gaim's level 2 form to battle the Bugster, with the Bugster landing a non-fatal hit on Dan with its sword. Battling the Bugster with the Daidaimaru, Ex-Aid was able to overpower the bugster, using the legend rider gashat's critical finish to knock the prototype gashat away from the bugster.

Approaching to deal the killing blow, Ex-Aid is stopped by Genm in his Wizard Gamer level 2 form. Using his Critical Strike, Genm is able to knock Ex-Aid out of his transformation, before collecting the data from the gashats into a strange blue gashat. Using the gashat, known as the Ganbarizing gashat, Genm summons copies of Kamen Rider W, OOO, and Fourze, all of whom begin to approach Ex-Aid. All looks bleak until the timely arrival of Dr. Pac-Man, who is carrying gashats for three other games. The two manage to escape, with Dr. Pac-Man using the gashacon bugvisor to blast Genm and the summoned Rider. Entering a parking garage, Emu and Dr. Pac-Man are found by Taiga and Hiiro, who want to kill Dr. Pac-Man, before they are stopped by the timely arrival of Genm and his summoned legend Riders.

At this point, Dr. Pac-Man tosses the three gashats to Ex-Aid, Brave, and Snipe, who have transformed to battle the other Riders, before he runs off, with Genm in pursuit. Ex-Aid and the others transform with their gashats. leaving Ex-Aid in his Pac-Man level 3 form against the summoned Kamen Rider Double, before he runs off, with Double in pursuit. The two run through a series of staircases, with Ex-Aid dodging a couple of Double's Gaia Memory-based attacks, before he locates a power coin, absorbing it into himself, causing Double to be affected like one of the ghosts from Pac-Man. During this, Ex-Aid activates the Pac Adventure Critical Strike, which bites down on the summoned Double, and causes him to explode.

Rushing back to the scene of where the Collabos was used to summon the three Riders, Ex-Aid finds the Collabos chasing after Poppi, and attacks it, telling her to run away. With Poppi gone, Ex-Aid is able to overpower the Bugster, before taking the Ganbarizing gashat out of its head. Placing it in his Gashacon Breaker, Ex-Aid executes the Ganbarizing gashat's Critical Finish, destroying the Bugster. Thinking he cleared the game, Ex-Aid looks around, along wit the returned Poppi before his breaker begins to shake. Looking at the screen left behind by the Bugster, Ex-Aid and Poppi question the demonic being approaching them. Ex-Aid prepares for battle.

Appearing from the Ganbarizing Game Area before Ex-Aid and Poppy Pipopapo, the mysterious figure is revealed to be an oni who Ex-Aid recognizes as Kamen Rider Hibiki. As Poppy flees, "Dr. Pac-Man" returns and hands the Taiko no Tatsujin - a music game where the goal is to hit the taiko drum in time with the rhythm - to Ex-Aid, who realizes that he can use this to face the drummer Rider. Inserting the Gashat into his Kimewaza Slot Holder, Ex-Aid is armed with two taiko sticks which he uses to match Hibiki's Ongekibou Rekka before blasting back and finishing him with the Taiko no Tatsujin Critical Strike, at last clearing the game.

As Ex-Aid recovers the Ganbarizing Gashat, he is met by Kamen Riders Brave Snipe, who have both come to claim the Gashat for themselves only to be joined by "Dr. Pac-Man", who swiftly eludes all three Riders before snatching the Gashat, adding it to his collection now totaling five. It is at this point, that Snipe and Brave realize that they had been manipulated and used as guinea pigs, a deduction immediately confirmed when "Dr. Pac-Man" is joined by the black Ex-Aid, who takes the Ganbarizing Gashat for himself. Inserting the Gashat into his Kimewaza Slot Holder, Genm activates a Critical Strike which imbues him with the combined power of Ex-Aid's seventeen Heisei Rider predecessors, allowing him to defeat all three Riders with a single Rider Kick. Genm then takes his leave with the Gashats as Emu wonders what exactly is going on.

Some time later, Emu discussed the end of his internship at the hospital, as well as greeting one of his patients, Shuhei, and Shuhei's mother. After hearing that Shuhei hated Christams, the two left, leaving behind a confused Emu. Suddenly Shuhei started to grunt in pain, and collapsed before his eyes flashed red and he took off running, revealing he had been infected by the Bugster virus. Emu chased after him for a little while, before Shuhei collapsed again, with the Salty Bugster exiting his body at level 3. Seeing Salty again, Emu immediately entered his level 3 form with the Gekitotsu Robots gashat, and battled the Bugster, overwhelming him easily with the form's greater strength.

During the battle, Genm appeared in his own Level 3 form, attacking Ex-Aid with a surprise attack from behind. Seeing Genm, Ex-Aid decided to level up, using the Drago Knight Hunter Z gashat to assume Level 5 with the Full Dragon form. In this form, Emu is able to control himself somewhat, but is still greatly damaged by using it, still overpowering Genm with ease, before he goes out of control, flying around, before slamming into a nearby wall, being covered in rubble while Genm and Salty escape. After escaping the rubble, Emu goes back to visit Shuhei in the CR, apologizing to Shuhei for him being infected before Christmas and promising to cure him. Shuhei ignores his sentiment, and rolls over, saying that he doesn't want to go home for Christmas. Hearing this, Emu asked his mother what he liked, to which she responded with cake.

After hearing her say this, he went off to go get Shuhei a cake, before getting a call from Genm's CEO Kuroto Dan, heading there first. Arriving there, he is met by Dan, Taiga, and Kiriya, all of whom were called there as well to discuss the last remaining gashat, Shakiriki Sports. Dan explained that the Genm/the Black Ex-Aid had allied himself with the Bugsters, and was trying to take the life of the patients for an unknown purpose. Dan asked the riders to defeat the black Ex-Aid and retrieve the last gashat. Standing up for the Director, Emu said that he didn't have anything to do with the infection, before Kiriya questioned his loyalties. Emu explained that he didn't need a reason to trust someone, and said that he trusted Kyotaro over Kiriya, before leaving.

Some time later, Emu arrived at the store, struggling to get to the counter of the store for the cake, before being knocked down. Getting Shuhei's cake, Emu headed back to the CR, before Shuhei told him that he hated cake, causing Emu to compare himself unfavorably to Kyotaro in a negative light, saying that he wasn't like him after all while he discussed it with Poppi Pipopapo. Suddenly he got a call from Kuroto Dan, saying that he needed to move his current patient, directing him to a skate park due to the Ministry of Health possibly being the source of the Bugster virus. Once there, Genm once again appears in his Level 3 form, walking toward Emu, Shuhei, and Poppi. Giving Shuhei to Poppi, Emu transformed into his Full Dragon Level 5 form again, fighting Genm. Hearing Genm say that he was following Kyotaro's orders, Emu briefly rampages as Ex-Aid's eyes flash purple.

With Genm charging up his finisher, Emu continues to struggle with controlling his body, before Kiriya pushes him out of the way, avoiding the Critical Finish. Struggling to stand up, Emu is told by Kiriya to trust in his beliefs, which caused Ex-Aid's eyes to flash red, regaining control over Full Dragon. After gaining control, Ex-Aid able to overpower Genm with ease, sending him flying back. Ex-Aid is surprised by the sudden appearance of Taiga and Hiiro, who both agree to work with Emu to bring down Genm. Hearing this, Emu says that they will fight as a four-person party, before reactivating the Drago Knight Hunter Gashat, putting the other Riders in Level 5, and causing Emu to assume Dragon Fang.

With their superior strength, and advantage of having four against one, the Riders are able to overpower Genm easily, draining his health bar to almost zero, as well as knocking the Shakariki Sports gashat away from Genm. This causes him to revert to level 2, as well as leaving him with only two slots of health left. The Riders warn him about his closeness to death, before telling him to flee, or that he would end up dying. Genm decided to activate his Critical Finish, and aims it at the nearby Shuhei. Seeing this, Ex-Aid runs over, before blocking the attack with his back armor, before swatting Genm away with his tail, depleting the rest of Genm's health, which causes his healthbar to turn red. With Genm still standing, Ex-Aid catches the now cleared Shakariki Sports gashat, while watching Genm stab himself in the chest with a white gashat in the Bugvisor.

Watching Genm closely, Ex-Aid and the others watch as Genm pulls out his Proto-Mighty Action X gashat, revealing himself to be Kuroto Dan, and re-legitamize Kiriya's claim of him being the black Ex-Aid. now known by all to be Kamen Rider Genm. With Emu and the others in shock, Dan reveals that a number of civilians had been infected and could break out at any time, before telling them to use the ten gashats to cure the patients, if they could. He also told them that he was doing all of this to create the 'ultimate game'. Before Emu and the others can stop him, Dan fires the Bugvisor at the others, before disappearing, leaving the confused doctors behind. Soon after, Emu and Hiiro returned to the CR, shaken by this revelation.

As Kiriya started to leave, Emu asked him to wait, explaining that he knew the truth about Kamen Rider Genm now, thanks to Kiriya. Asking him about the incident with his friend, Kiriya explained that his friend died because he told him that he was infected with the Bugster virus. Hearing this, as well as Kiriya's motives and goal, Emu told Kiriya that he trusts him full now, and would help him. With that, Kiriya smiled, and told Emu to return Shuhei's smile. Promising to cure Shuhei, and return his smile, Emu left Kiriya and returned to work. Once there, he talked to Shuhei's mother about his hatred toward cakes. She explains that she and her husband run a bakery, and that they are very busy during the Christmas season, before telling Emu that Shuhei broke his leg climbing a nearby tree.

Hearing this, Emu investigates the tree. He notices something on the tree and begins to climb it, before grabbing the object. Returning to the CR with the object in-hand, EWmu goes to visit Shuhei, asking him if he feels better. He tells Shuehi about how he used to sit at home, alone on most nights, playing video games, as well as designing his own ideas for video games. He proceeds to compare this to Shuhei climbing trees, before explaining that he climbed the tree in the park. Hearing this, Shuhei's eyes flashed red, indicating that the Bugster was on the move. Arriving at the Salty Bugster's location with Shuhei and Poppy in tow, Emu transforms, leaving Shuhei in Poppy's hands. Starting out in his Level 1 form, Ex-Aid quickly decided to use the Shakariki Sports gashat to assume his second level 3 form. Using his agility to jump behind Salty, Ex-Aid quickly freed Shuhei's mother from Salty's grasp.

Fighting the Bugster Virus mooks spawned by Salty, Ex-Aid uses his level 3 to defeat several of them before Brave appears in his own Level 3 form, fighting the Bugster as well. After defeating several of the Bugster spawn, Ex-Aid notices an energy item bearing a resemblance to Santa Claus. Getting it, he is reverted to Level 1 in a special Christmas version, along with Christmas versions of both the Sports Gamer, and Brave's level 3 form, as well as giving Poppy a special Christmas outfit. After Shuhei and his mother make up, Ex-Aid explains that he brought Shuhei outside to make him smile again. Pulling out the Gashacon Breaker from his Christmas sack, Ex-Aid returns to fighting Salty in his level 1 form. Soon after, he is joined by Brave, who fights Salty in his level 3 form, with the two arguing briefly (to somewhat comedic effect) over whether they were actually working together or not. Shortly after this, Brave and Ex-Aid finish Salty off, and cure Shuhei of his Bugster infection.

Reverting to their normal forms, Emu and Hiiro stop Poppi from harassing Shuhei with her singing, before she reveals that she's actually a Bugster from the DoReMiFa Beats game. The two quickly explain that actually already knew that, which leads to her being confused as to how they already knew. Checking on his pateitn, Emu went over to talk to Shuhei, before wishing them both a Merry Christmas. Heading back to CR, the group celebrates their Christmas together, and eat the cake that Shuhei and his parents gave them. They discuss the most recent Bugster, before Hiiro declares that the Bugster virus is mutating, leaving Emu and his father confused. Figuring out what he is saying, Emu figures out that the old Bugsters they defeated are coming back more evolved, Emu and Hiiro receive a message from Kiriya to meet him. Quickly running there, Emu and the others try to make it there before Dan/Genm does. Arriving as the stage generates, Emu and Hiiro transform together, fighting off several spawned stage Bugsters.

The two continue to fight the Bugsters in their level 2 forms, before continuing to Kiriya's location as it starts to rain. Finding the warehouse where Kiriya told them to meet him, along with Snipe/Taiga being present, Emu and the others rush to Kiriya's aid, only for him to flicker briefly, showing that he has gotten a Game Over. He confirms Genm's return, before entrusting his Gamer Driver and Bakusou Bike gashat to Emu, telling him to keep smiling, and to change his own fate with his hands. Saying these parting words, he falls back, disappearing into data, and leaving the others in the rain with Emu mourning his death.

After this, and later the public announcement about the Bugster virus, Emu finishes his internship to be a pediatrician, and begins his tutelage under Hiiro to become a surgeon. During one of the surgeries, Emu took to long to tie a piece of string around a tube, due to having a flashback of Kiriya's death, and was reprimanded by Hiiro. Following this, Emu followed Hiiro away from the patient, discussing Kiriya's death. Hiiro proceeds to tell Emu that they have a responsibility, and cannot dwell on personal feelings. Following this discussion, Emu and Hiiro headed for CR, having received a call from Asuna.

Arriving, the two are told the patient's name, as well as his job, revealing him to be a famous surgeon named Kazuki Shirakawa. Once they discuss the disease with the patient, the disease breaks out, revealing the Level 5 Aranbura Bugster. Upon seeing it, Emu and Hiiro transformed into Ex-Aid and Brave respectively, with Hiiro changing the stage so that they wouldn't damage the CR. Transforming into their level 2 forms, the two attack the Bugster, but are unable to cope with his spells freezing them in place. Following a lightning attack, the two are surprised by the arrival of Kamen Rider Genm in Level 10.

Hearing his proclamation about taking back the gashats, as well as his use of Kiriya's Gashacon Sparrow, Emu flew into a rage and attacks Genm in his Level 5 Full Dragon form. Catching Genm in a fiery explosion, Ex-Aid is surprised to see him walk out of it so easily, before being shot by Genm's Gashacon Sparrow. Genm and Ex-Aid trade blows for a while, while Brave fights the bugster at Level 2, being overwhelmed. Seeing Ex-Aid driven only by rage, Brave tells him to focus on the operation, before grabbing Ex-Aid and knocking him out of the way of Genm's Critical Dead. Quickly grabbing both his, and Ex-Aid's gashats, Hiiro caused both of them to de-henshin, which in turn allowed them to escape with the stage dissolving.

Once they arrive back at the CR, Emu stands silently while Hiiro and his father reprimand him for acting on personal feelings. During this, Hiiro says that he will be taking all of Emu's gashats away, leading Emu to apologize, before they leave, leaving Emu alone. Walking back to the patient with Poppi, they discuss the patient's care, before he tells them that it won't matter, as he is currently dying from cancer. Hearing this, Emu goes outside with his coat, and equipment, trying to figure out what he should do, before he is approached by a familiar face. Parad tells him to quit being a doctor, before Emu recognizes him as the fake Genm. Discussing Emu's proffesion, Parad compares it to being the hardest game there is, since humans can only die once. Telling Parad that thanks to his 'game', Kiriya is dead, before Parad tells him to calm down, as Genm killed Kiriya, not him.

Getting a call from Poppi, Emu explains that he doesn't want to see anyone die. Parad questions this, before handing Emu a blank gashat, telling him to change his fate, before disappearing. Hurrying to the scene, Emu is able to arrive before Genm has the chance to finish off Brave and Snipe, holding the blank gashat in his hands. Holding it up, before slotting the gashat, Emu suddenly collapsed, as a large black cloud emerged from the gashat, with the gashat having been filled with the Bugster virus. Declaring his intent, Emu absorbed the black cloud, with his eyes temporarily becoming monochromatic, with a blue and orange flash to appear in front of him. The flash quickly disappears, flowing into the blank gashat, before the gashat itself flies out of the gamer driver. Emu quickly catches it in the air, before slotting it back in the Gamer Driver, flipping the cover of the belt, before transforming.

With his new Double Action Gamer Level X form, Ex-Aid is able to easily overwhelm his opponent, quickly putting Genm on the defensive. Knocking Genm to the ground, Ex-Aid pulls one more trick out of his sleeve, closing and flipping the cover on the Gamer Driver to level up, leaving him into two Level XX bodies. Upon seeing each other, M (the orange Ex-Aid) and Emu (the light blue Ex-Aid) began to argue, before deciding to settle it later, with M summoning the Gashacon Key Slasher, heading towards Genm, before being stopped by Emu. Emu told him that they should save the patient's life, instead of focusing on revenge, as the patient comes first. The two briefly bicker again, before the Bugster and Genm manage to slip away.

M gets mad at the fact that they were able to escape, calling the Bugster and Genm cowards, before Emu closed the cover of the Driver, removing the gashat. With the gashat removed, Emu and M fuse back into their human form. Exhausted, Emu looks at the gashat before getting a terrible headache and passing out. After being taken back to the CR, Emu went to visit the patient, explaining that the Bugster managed to escape. Discussing his pancreatic cancer, Emu declares his intent to not give up on Kazuki, not matter the circumstances. Hearing this, Kazuki tries to dissuade Emu, but Emu refuses to give up. Leaving the room, he meets Hiiro and Asuna on the roof of the hospital, asking Hiiro to perform surgery on Kazuki's cancer.

Emu explained to Hiiro why the Bugster had been attacking him, in an attempt to prevent Kazuki's cancer from being removed. He tells Asuna and Hiiro that Hiiro needs to operate on Kazuki's cancer so they can save his life, as well as explaining Kazuki's motives for wanting Hiiro to operate him. Watching Hiiro walk away, M takes over, and insults Hiiro, saying that he is too afraid of tarnishing his reputation for being a genius surgeon. Stating that he has confidence in his own abilities, Emu asks Hiiro for his gashats so he can perform the Bugster removal himself. Getting his gashats back from Hiiro, Emu heads down to the lobby of the hospital, and waits for the Bugster to arrive. Locating him, Emu tells Asuna to evacuate the civilians before heading to face the Bugster by himself. Telling the Bugster about the surgery, M takes over and transforms into Ex-Aid, telling the Bugster that he has his own operation to do.

Transforming into his Level 1 form, Ex-Aid quickly levels up to Level 2 to fight the Bugster. Though he is at a disadvantage strength-wise, Ex-Aid is able to use his agility to fight the Bugster on even terms for the most part, before using the Bakusou Bike gashat to summon the Bike Gamer in honor of Lazer's memory. Ramming into the Bugster to prevent him from using his magic, Ex-Aid carried him away from the hospital on the front of the motorcycle, before arriving at what appears to be a shipping yard. Seeing Kuroto Dan there, Ex-Aid slams on the brakes, sending the Bugster flying off, before charging at Genm with his Gashacon Breaker. Blocking the shots fired from the Gashacon Sparrow with the Gashacon Breaker, Ex-Aid is able to get close to the Bugster, before his attack is blocked by Genm, who slashes him back.

Being double-teamed by Genm and the Bugster, Ex-Aid is overwhelmed by the two, but refuses to give up, being blasted back and knocked out of his transformation. Hearing Genm's threat to delete the Mighty Brothers XX gashat, Emu stands up, before saying that this is not a game, but an operation. Pulling out the gashat, Emu quickly transforms into Level X, before closing and opening the cover of the gamer driver again, turning into his Level XX forms. The two Ex-Aids face each other, before declaring their intention to clear the battle with Co-Op, charging forward at the Bugster, with M fighting Genm so that Emu can fight the Bugster undisturbed. During the battle, the two Ex-Aids swap the Gashacon Key Slasher back and forth, damaging both Genm and the Bugster, while also switching opponents. The two proceed to kick Genm away from the battlefield, before focusing on the Bugster, overwhelming it with their co-op attacks, the two Ex-Aids open and close the cover on their drivers, activating the finisher.

With the finisher activated. the two quickly hit the Bugster with a fast flurry of kicks, before the Ex-Aids re-merge into Level X, punching the Bugster upward, before returning to their dual forms, hitting the Bugster with a powerful Double Rider Kick. The Bugster explodes, but is drained into the Gashacn Bugvisor by Genm, who tells the two that no matter how many patients they save, they won't affect the ending, before he walks away. Watching him disappear, the two close the cover of their drivers, before removing the double gashat, reverting back to Emu, who gets another powerful headache, before passing out. During this time, Emu's blood is taken by Taiga, who would go to discover that Emu is infected with the Bugster virus later. Waking up, Emu looks around, before rushing back to the hospital for the results of the surgery, having cleared the game when he destroyed the Bugster. Arriving back at the hospital just in time to see Hiiro walk out of the operation room, Emu asks Hiiro how it went. Hearing the response that "there is nothing I cannot cut", he is re-assured that the operation was successful.

Glad to know this, Emu goes to visit Kazuki, giving him a thumbs up, before grabbing his fist in a sign of happiness. Some time after this operation, Emu would do a couple more operations, before having an anemic attack during one of them, causing him to leave the operation in Hiiro's hands. Due to this, he fled into the hallway, where Hiiro chastised him, before telling him to give up his surgery residency. Watching him walk away, Emu got slightly depressed, before Hiiro offered a compliment, telling him that he's probably good at Game Disease treatment. Eating an iron supplement to counter his anemia, Emu told Poppi about what Hiiro had said, with the two briefly discussing whether it was actually a compliment. Soon after, they received a call that someone with game disease had been found and hurried to the location. Arriving there, they looked around, before noticing a girl playing on a handheld device, approaching her. Examining her, they quickly figure out that the girl, Saiba Nico, does not have the bugster virus. Getting closer, Emu attempts to check for a fever, before he is elbowed by the 'patient', who subsequently reveals that she has a Gamer Driver, and the Bang Bang Shooting gashat. Seeing Taiga arrive on the scene, Emu and Asuna are confused as to why Nico has Taiga's gashat and driver, before Nico attempts to transform using the stolen gashat and driver. Watching the stage fail to materialize, Nico is overcome by the Gashat's power, causing her dormant game disease to become active, as well as causing the revival of the Revol Bugster at Level 5.

Using the Mighty Brothers Double X gashat, Emu quickly transformed into his Level X form, attacking the Revol bugster, as well as his minions, only to find that his attacks did nothing. Confused by this, Ex-Aid continues to try and fight the bugsters, only for his attacks to do nothing, before hearing Kuroto Dan's voice. Saying that he will destroy the bootleg game that Ex-Aid is using, Dan transforms into his level X form, summoning the Gashacon sparrow as well. Seeing this, Ex-Aid jumps down, closing the guard of his belt, before opening it again, transforming into his two Level XX forms, with both charging at Genm. Engaging him in combat, Ex-Aid is able to hold off Genm, and is even able to overpower him while Brave and Snipe battle the other Bugster minions. Hitting Genm with a powerful attack, Ex-Aid is able to knock Genm back, though Genm recovers, telling Ex-Aid that he has the data needed, before firing a couple shots from the Gashacon Sparrow, leaving with the Revol Bugster. After the two leave, Ex-Aid and the others revert their transformations, with Emu falling over in pain as another headache sets in, with Emu claiming to be alright, before walking away to check on Nico. Meeting back up with Poppi, Emu and Poppi take the unconscious Nico back to the CR to keep track of her game disease.

Waiting for her to wake up, Emu reads over her files before noticing she is awake, and when she begins trying to leave, Emu corners her, preventing her from leaving the CR. Questioning on why she seems to hate him so much, Emu is confused when she accuses him of not remembering her, before Poppi has him follow her into the hallway. Discussing on whether or not he's ever met her before, Poppi asks Emu to try and remember if he's ever met Nico before, and brings up the fact that he's the only one who can't attack Revol. Emu tries to think, but Hiiro arrives, asking him why he decided to become a doctor.

Emu explains that he was in a tournament about 6 years ago, and that he stayed up for several days practicing, and won the tournament, before he collapsed out of exhaustion, during which he had 'dreamed' about his operation as a child, or so he had thought. Due to this dream, Emu decided to stop focusing on games, and focused more on studying so that he could pass his entrance exam. Hiiro attempted to question him further, before they received a call from Taiga, who explained that Nico had left her belongings at his hospital, and asked them to retrieve the belongings so they'd stop taking up space.

Arriving at the location given by Taiga, Emu and Asuna head there, where Taiga announces himself and quickly transforms into Snipe, who shoots at the two. Hiding Asuna behind cover, Emu quickly attaches his gamer driver, and uses his Mighty Action X gashat to transform into his Level 1 form, and battles against Snipe's level 2 form. Holding his own for a couple moments, Brave appears, transformed into his level 2 form and attacks Ex-Aid from behind. Questioning both of their motives, Ex-aid declared that none it made sense, but levelled up to his level 2 form to even the battle out. He mainly tried to avoid their attacks, not wanting to fight either of them, but was caught off guard when Snipe shot the Drago Knight Hunter Z gashat from its slot in his driver. With Brave and Snipe assuming their Dragon Blade and Dragon Gun forms, respectively, Ex-Aid was forced further onto the defensive, being easily overwhelmed by the two's combined attacks, being knocked to the ground, before Asuna stood in front of Emu, keeping the two from attacking him.

Witnessing Parad's arrival, Ex-Aid identified him as a bugster to the others present, before witnessing Para-DX's transformation into his Puzzle Gamer Level 50 form. Watching him knock Brave and Snipe out of their transformations, Ex-Aid quickly stands in Para-DX's way, preventing him from finishing them off. Explaining that a life was a life, Ex-Aid used his Shakariki Sports gashat to assume his level 3 form in an effort to protect Hiiro and Taiga. Seeing this, Para-DX takes his gashat out, before turning the knob and re-inserting it, assuming his secondary form, Level 50 Fighter Gamer, with which he is able to easily overwhelm Ex-Aid's level 3 form in combat.

Ex-Aid is knocked out of his form by Para-DX's Critical Smash, before Parad untransforms, saying that he'll take him on any time, leaving the injured Riders to mend their wounds. Emu suffers from another headache, collapsing to the ground, before Asuna helps him get back to the CR, leaving the injured Hiiro and Taiga behind. Some time later, back at the CR, Poppi is panicking due to Emu being attacked by Snipe and Brave, before the reveal of Para-DX, before the two of them notice something strange about the patient's room, which they investigate, only to find that Nico has placed various trinkets in the room to make it less suffocating. When Emu tries to explain what's happening, Nico starts swatting at him not to touch her, before she collapses due to the game disease. Asuna quickly drags Emu out of the room ,explaining that he is likely the reason for Nico's stress.

Soon after, Emu calls Hiiro, wanting to know why he was attacked, though Hiiro told him to meet on the rooftop of the hospital. Emu questions Hiiro once he arrives, and Hiiro hesitates answering him due to a previous conversation he had with Taiga, during which they dicussed whether they should tell Emu or not, before telling Emu that he attacked him due to him getting too close to his patients. Following this, Hiiro quickly transforms into Brave, which summons the Revol Bugster, and his minions, who avoid attacking Emu. Realizing something is wrong, Emu transforms into Ex-Aid and tries to attack the Revol Bugster, only for his attacks to do nothing. The Revol Bugster explains that he and Emu are allies, so friendly fire is not allowed, which is why Ex-Aid is unable to land a hit on him, and vice versa.

Ex-Aid realizes what the Revol Bugsters plan is, and starts to leave, only to be stopped by Genm, who is already transformed and waiting. Battling Genm alongside Revol, despite the fact that Revol is clearly outmatched by Genm, Ex-Aid tries to hold his own against Genm, who claims that he will take all of Ex-Aid's gashats. He and Brave attempt to level up, only to be caught in Genm's Critical Dead, which knocks both of them out of their transformations. Watching Hiiro struggle to get up, Emu watches as Genm takes both the DoReMiFa Beat Gashat, as well as Taddle Quest from Hiiro. When Genm tries to do the same thing, Emu's eyes flash red and he knocks Genm back with what appears to be a psychic blast from his bugster side. Quickly switching back to his human side, Emu watches as Parad appears, claiming that he'll play with Ex-Aid next time, before disappearing with Genm.

With Genm and Parad gone, Emu and Hiiro are transported back to the hospital's rooftop, where Emu tries to assist Hiiro in standing up, only for Hiiro to rebuff him. Promising to retrieve Hiiro's gashats, Emu thanks him, before heading back down to CR, planning on talking to Nico, who was already taken back to Taiga's hospital by Taiga himself. Heading to Taigaa's hospital to meet with Taiga, Emu and Asuna arrive during one of Taiga and Nico's arguments. Emu tells Nico that he finally remembered her as his opponent from one of the tournaments he played in, calling her the Genius Gamer, "N". After hearing her monthly revenue from winning tournaments, Emu congratulates her for those wins, as well as making a name for herself. She gets angry about him beating her, and she shoves Emu, before claiming that she wanted to become a Kamen Rider to defeat Emu. After she storms off, with Asuna following her, Taiga asks Emu to follow him, before leading him outside. It appears the two have been silent, with Taiga stopping suddenly, and pulling out his gashat. Emu asks that Taiga operate on her, and Taiga transforms to fight Emu. When the stage activates, the Revol Bugster reappears to defend Emu, before Emu gets away, letting Snipe handle the Bugster while he handles the newly arrived Parad and Kuroto Dan, with the three transforming into Level X, Level X, and Level 50 respectively.

Holding his own for the time being, Ex-Aid is able to hold Para-DX and Genm away from Snipe's operation so that Nico can be cured of game disease. When Snipe Levels up to level 5, Ex-Aid decides to go ahead and level up to his Level XX form, with one of the Ex-Aids dealing with Genm and the other fighting Para-DX, but Para-DX steps in and attacks both Ex-Aids so that he can fight Emu at full power. The two Ex-Aids fight Para-DX together, but don't seem to be able to overpower him, even with working together, leaving Snipe to fight Genm alone. Once Para-DX uses his ability as the Puzzle Gamer to use the power-ups, Ex-Aid is easily overwhelmed by his opponent's power and speed. He is quickly knocked out of the transformation, which causes the Revol Bugster to fire on Para-DX, which in turn causes Para-DX to destroy the level 5 Bugster in his fighter Gamer form. With the Bugster destroyed, both Dan and Parad untransform, and leave, leaving behind the injured Emu and Taiga, with Emu being overcome by another powerful headache, admitting to Asuna that he's been getting them when he transformed, before they headed back to CR.

Some time later, Emu has been given a day off of his surgical internship and CR by Poppi because he seemed overworked and Hiiro is too busy with an operation to supervise him. While playing Mighty Action X, a Bugster tries taking his hamburger; he reports it to CR and gives chase to a parking garage, but finds a man with the game illness saying that the Bugster isn't dangerous. Taiga and Nico arrive; Nico and Asuna argue, and Taiga and Emu transform into Snipe and Ex-Aid Shooting and Action Gamers Level 2 as Parad arrives to even the odds, becoming Para-DX Puzzle Gamer Level 50, and the Riders and Bugster fight.

Ex-Aid stops Snipe's shooting when he sees that harming the Bugster causes the patient stress, and after admitting he left Mighty Brothers XX at home for his day off, Para-DX loses interest in fighting. The patient gives Ex-Aid a new Gashat to fight with: Ju Ju Burger, which lets him take Ex-Aid Burger Action Gamer Level 4; he uses his new agility to dodge Snipe and get the Bugster away.

Back at CR, they learn their patient is Tsukuru Koboshi, a Genm Corp. employee, and the Bugster is named Burgermon. After Genm's CEO disappeared, Tsukuru made Ju Ju Burger in a bid to save the company, but it developed the Bugster virus and infected him, producing Burgermon; Burgermon, however, was friendly, and Tsukuru used Kuroto's equipment to make the Ju Ju Burger Gashat for CR (he'd been helping make Gashats for 5 years). Emu points out that Burgermon's presence will cause Tsukuru to succumb to the game illness if he gets too stressed; Burgermon sees his risk of harm, but he and Tsukuru are inseparable. Later, Burgermon and Poppi make "Ju Ju burgers" inside her arcade machine as Emu ponders how to treat Tsukuru when defeating the Bugster to cure his illness will cause him to succumb to it. Hiiro finished his operation, but has to be restrained by Emu and Director Kagami from attacking Burgermon (luckily he no longer has his Gashats); Burgermon laments being a villain meant to be defeated.

The next morning, Burgermon has disappeared from CR; a message written in ketchup on pickle slices says he is going to make Tsukuru better. In a nearby park, Burgermon is attacking civilians, but in his threats of blood he keeps saying "ketchup" by accident. He is met and attacked by Nico and Level 2 Snipe, but Emu, Poppi, and Tsukuru arrive. Emu becomes Ex-Aid Level 2 to stop Snipe; responding to Tsukuru's pleads, Burgermon says he was evil all along, but Emu says he's only playing the villain to be defeated to cure Tsukuru, and that villains can have roles other than being defeated.

Poppi says Burgermon is meant to be made happy, but he attacks, launching hamburger ingredients; Ex-Aid takes Burger Action Gamer Level 4 again, and while Snipe shoots down the flying buns, lettuce, and tomato slices, Ex-Aid hits them with the ketchup and mustard cannons on his arms. Ex-Aid triggers a Ju Ju Critical Strike, but instead of an attack, it assembles the ingredients he'd hit into a "Ju Ju burger" he presents to Burgermon, making him smile and clearing the game. Nico again berates Snipe for his poor gameplay. His game illness cured without destroying the Bugster, Tsukuru and Burgermon have a heartfelt reunion, but it is cut short by the whole group being Stage Selected to a warehouse to meet Kuroto and Parad.

They transform to Genm Zombie Gamer Level X and Para-DX Puzzle Gamer Level 50 and attack the Riders. Para-DX uses Speeding-Up and Muscular Energy Items to knock down both Ex-Aid and Snipe, using Perfect Critical Combo to knock them out of their transformations, grabbing the loose Ju Ju Burger Gashat. Genm triggers Critical Dead to target Tsukuru and Burgermon, but Burgermon runs into the attack to stop the zombie horde from progressing, taking the full explosion and being destroyed. In a rage, Emu shouts at Genm as his eyes briefly glow red before he collapses; Genm asks if it's Emu's body making him favor Bugsters before he and Para-DX leave.

Emu has called Asuna and Hiiro to the roof of the Seito University Hospital, remembering Genm's suggesting that his body made him defend the last Bugster and accusing them of hiding something from him. Elsewhere, Tsukuru Koboshi is pondering the future of Genm Corp. and Burgermon's final words; however, Kuroto arrives, infecting Tsukuru with the Bugster virus using the Gashacon Bugvisor, saying he could never make a best-selling game. Emu questions about the compatibility surgery and his making the Mighty Brothers XX Gashat, but Hiiro only tells him to hand over his Gashats so that he can transform; a game illness call stops the conversation, Emu and Asuna racing off to deal with it.

They find Tsukuru and Kuroto as Taiga and Nico arrive, Kuroto saying he infected Tsukruru to use as bait for the Riders before transforming into Genm Zombie Gamer Level X. Taiga and Emu transform into Snipe Hunter Shooting Gamer Level 5 Full Dragon and Ex-Aid Double Action Gamer Level XX, tripling up on Genm and knocking him down, but Genm stops fighting to tell Tsukuru that he'd never make a good game, making his Bugster infection break out into Motors Level 5. Motors speeds away on his Motors Viper, Ex-Aid reverting to Double Action Gamer Level X and nabbing a Speeding-Up Energy Item to give chase, but the Bugster's Level Up has made him too fast to catch, and Ex-Aid is left in the dust.

Snipe hits Genm with a Drago Knight Critical Strike, but his zombie immortality restores him before he even hits the ground; in response, he slices Snipe with a Sickle Mode Giri Giri Critical Finish, knocking him out of his transformation. Genm takes Taiga's three Gashats, saying he can easily make a new Gashat to defeat Ex-Aid, too, leaving before Ex-Aid returns. Emu untransforms, but immediately collapses with a headache.

As Tsukuru is diagnosed at CR, he explains that Genm Corp. has a new CEO to replace Kuroto, and that the employees were split into teams to develop the best game to hopefully save the company. Though unsure, Tsukuru had vowed to help his team as best he could, and Emu says he's looking forward to Tsukuru's new game. Up in the conference room, Taiga calls in and speaks with Hiiro and Poppi, telling them not to let Emu meet Genm, as Kuroto is working on a new Gashat, and that Emu's body can't handle transforming anymore. Nico jumps in and steals Taiga's line of wanting to take Emu's Gashats as the call cuts off.

Picking up on their vague wording, Poppi realizes that Emu has the game illness, but Hiiro convinces her to keep it quiet: telling Emu would probably destroy his pride as a doctor and cause the infection to erase him; Hiiro needs Gashats to save Emu. At Genm Corp., Motors is on a rampage to stress Tsukuru by attacking his coworkers. Emu goes to help; Hiiro tries to stop him and do it himself, but Emu isn't about to let a doctor who doesn't care about his patients' happiness be the one to save Tsukuru, racing off. He arrives as Ex-Aid Sports Action Gamer Level 3 to protect two employees from Motors outside the building, but Kuroto arrives and sidelines Motors, his job as bait being over.

Ex-Aid Stage Selects to a quarry, where Kuroto takes out the Level 50 Gashat Gear Dual β, triggering Taddle Fantasy, a game where you play as the villain to defeat the hero, and summoning the Fantasy Gamer. Ex-Aid takes his Level X form, but Kuroto orders the Fantasy Gamer to attack, and it knocks Ex-Aid out of his transformation in only one hit.

Motors, meanwhile, is irked at only being bait, but Kuroto transforms into Genm Zombie Gamer, saying Motors is no longer useful; he destroys Motors with a Critical End, curing Tsukuru, and absorbs his debris with the Bugvisor as Parad watches from the sidelines. Genm reiterates that Riders and Bugsters are both his pawns, threatening Emu with the Gashacon Sparrow to hand over his Gashats; Emu refuses, but Genm is suddenly knocked aside by Para-DX Fighter Gamer Level 50.

Parad is fed up with Genm treating Bugsters as nothing; Genm reminds Para-DX of when he himself defeated Revol, but Para-DX says that was per the game's rules of fighting to a victor, which is the Bugsters' way. Para-DX unleashes a full force rapid barrage of punches against Genm, but he is again without damage. Para-DX switches to Puzzle Gamer Level 50, using three Muscular Energy Items to bulk up for a Perfect Critical Combo, finally knocking Kuroto out of his transformation.

However, Kuroto has one last card to play to shatter Parad's dream of defeating Emu for defying the Game Master. He turns to Emu, bringing up his transforming without a surgery, creating a new Gashat, and having headaches. Hiiro, Taiga, and Parad race forward to stop him. Kuroto finally reveals to Emu that he was the first Bugster virus patient in the world. Only Parad keeps running, lifting Kuroto by his collar. Emu tries to dismiss the claim, but remembers his headaches as the infection flares. His eyes glow red as his body starts glitching into digitization, a massive yellow beam consisting of Bugster viruses shooting up from him as his face starts cracking.

Much to the members of CR, Taiga, and Kuroto's surprise, Emu did not disappear after he learned the truth, but rather fell unconscious. When he awoke, he greeted the CR crew casually, acting in his Genius Gamer M persona despite the fact that he was not playing a game. He starts playing Poppy's game expertly, though she doesn't like it, and even scares Haima. Eventually, they receive word that someone has been infected with the Bugster Virus. Hiiro tries, and fails, to convince Emu to give him his Gaschat, in order to prevent him from transforming and suffering further from the effects of his own virus.

When they arrive, Emu's eyes turn red, an effect common among Bugsters when they take hold of their host, which Hiiro notices immediately, and engages the Bugster when it emerges, transforming into Ex-Aid Robot Action Gamer Level 3 immediately. At first overwhelmed, he makes use of the power ups and turns the tables on his opponent, though he becomes agitated when it reverts back into its host to recover.

After returning to the CR, Emu once again plays Poppy's game, and when Hiiro questions him, Emu states that he doesn't care about the patient at all, even going on to say that this is who he was. However, Hiiro becomes angered and tells him that the person he should be is a doctor who invests in his patient in order to make them smile. This causes Emu to suffer from a headache. When the Bugster takes over and escapes, Hiiro takes Emu's Mighty Action X Gaschat and leaves to take it on. However, Emu takes it back and engages the Bugster, only to be attacked by Genm.

The two easily overpower and force Ex-Aid back. Hiiro, however, manages to turn the situation around by using the same tactics as Ex-Aid earlier and use a Power Up to confuse the Fantasy Gamer, allowing him to take the Gashat Gear Dual β and transform into Kamen Rider Brave Fantasy Gamer Level 50 for the first time by using Taddle Fantasy. At first being taken over by its power, Hiiro manages to regain control and states what it means to be a doctor, something that causes Emu to falter and suffer from another headache. His transformation is cancelled, and returns to his previous self.

After the battle is over, Emu apologizes for the trouble he has caused, though Hiiro dismisses him, telling him he should do what he should do as a doctor. Later, on the Seito University Hospital roof, Hiiro triggers the Taddle Quest Gashat, but the threat doesn't make the Bugster inside Emu surface; Hiiro insists he's only helping to preserve his perfect record.

At Seito Hospital, Emu bumped into an unidentified man. Unbeknownst to him, he had been caught up in the plot of the enigmatic Foundation X, having had their own Level 4 Gashat, Night of Safari, slipped into his pocket. This led Emu to being confronted by the revived serial killer - Kamen Rider Ouja - Takeshi Asakura, who was after the Gashat as part of his sick "game" before becoming bored and proceeding to give Emu a savage beating. Emu would be found unconscious and badly injured by Hiiro, who took the Gashat still in his hand, using it to assume the Safari Gamer with which he defeated Kamen Rider Ouja and his Beast Rider Squad.

Later, on the Seito University Hospital roof, Hiiro triggers the Taddle Quest Gashat, but the threat doesn't make the Bugster inside Emu surface; Hiiro insists he's only helping to preserve his perfect record. Later they receive a call for a bugster infection. As they arrive, Taiga tells Hiiro and Emu that the infection is from Jet Combat, but Nico mocks Daisuke's timidity, spurring his infection to flare and the Vernier Bugster to overtake his body.

Over Taiga's warning, Hiiro transforms into Brave Fantasy Gamer Level 50; he summons a group of Bugster Virus monks and attacks Vernier, but Emu is too fearful of his Bugster side taking over again to transform. Brave beats the Bugster into submission, Vernier pulling back inside the patient, before turning to challenge the watching Parad. Emu and Poppi quickly evacuate the patient and head back to CR. At CR, Emu relays his fear of losing control to Asuna. Meeting with the patient, Daisuke Egami, they learn that a girl in his class set up a date for them at an amusement park, but he was ashamed at unsuccessfully trying to overcome his fear of the thrill rides ahead of time so as to not disappoint her. Asuna's response is to drag him to the amusement park again and put him through the wringer of rides; the experience drains both Daisuke and Emu.

Poppi and Emu discover that even the Ferris Wheel is too much for Daisuke; overhearing some passing women mocking him on this, his infection flares again, Vernier taking over and choosing his target as the girl Daisuke has the date with. Getting the call, Hiiro tries to respond but can't stand up, Taiga saying he'll deal with the Bugster using the Gashat Gear Dual β's other game, Bang Bang Simulations; Hiiro refuses, still blaming Taiga for letting Saki die on Zero Day. Vernier's form emerges again, targeting Emu and Poppi with a barrage of missiles, but Emu is still too afraid to use Mighty Brothers XX. However, Kuroto Stage Selects them to an empty quarry, saying that Emu's fear has made him no longer a threat; he transforms into Genm Zombie Gamer Level X to retrieve Emu's Gashats, but Taiga arrives and draws Genm's attention.

Hiiro had let him leave; he believes that a single mistake can end a doctor's career, and Taiga pointed out that Hiiro could easily make such a mistake in his condition, but Taiga himself has nothing more to lose, and as "the only Kamen Rider needed" could bear all of the responsibility the others can't risk. Genm reminds him of the side effects of his prior usage of the Proto Gashats, but Taiga says he can handle this and transforms into Snipe Simulation Gamer Level 50, fighting through the initial power surge. Vernier summons a swarm of small gray Combat Gamers to attack Emu and Poppi, but Snipe shoots them down with the cannons on his armor.

Emu reaches for his dropped Mighty Brothers XX Gashat, but hesitates again; Snipe tells him to leave if he won't fight, but Emu remembers Hiiro's first attempt to snap him out of his Bugster attitude and realizes why he'll stay and fight despite the risk: he's a doctor. Emu transforms into Ex-Aid Double Action Gamer Level XX and his two halves attack Genm. Snipe intercepts Vernier, shooting and destroying him with the Bang Bang Critical Fire, curing and freeing Daisuke. Ex-Aid Level XX Orange, meanwhile, uses the Gashacon Key Slasher and activates the Mighty Brothers Critical Finish for the two of them, hitting Genm with a double energy slash, but Genm only uses this as cover to collect Vernier's debris with the Gashacon Bugvisor before disappearing.

Daisuke vows to overcome his fears in time for the date, prompting Poppi to drag him off to "help" again; Emu repeats his motivations to Taiga before getting dragged off by Poppi as well.

Some time later, in CR, Emu is exhausted from Hiiro's supervision of his surgery internship, Hiiro commenting that fighting Bugsters seems to be all Emu is good for; on that note, Poppi reveals that it was actually Kuroto who had suggested she seek out "Genius Gamer M" to recruit into CR. They get an emergency call and go to the prison, diagnosing Heiji as having the game illness; instead of following them back to CR, however, he insists to see Masamune again (Asuna tells Emu that Masamune is Kuroto's father and the one who caused Zero Day), but his illness breaks out, the Kaiden Bugster taking him over. Emu and Hiiro transform into Ex-Aid Double Action Gamer Level X and Brave Hunter Quest Gamer Level 5 Full Dragon and Stage Select to the woods; Kaiden challenges them to a sword fight, the Riders using the Gashacon Key Slasher and Dragon Blade. Brave uses Drago Knight Critical Strike while Ex-Aid uses Mighty Double Critical Strike, but Kaiden deflects several of the hits and is only weakened to the point of retreating back inside the patient.

Back at CR, Heiji insists he's fine and tries leaving, but collapses out of the patient bed. He reveals that the Bugster virus killed his son on Zero Day five years ago and he's been investigating the event ever since; Masamune has admitted some responsibility, but never elaborates on how the Bugster virus came about. He also notes that both Kiriya Kujo, who visited Masamune, and Kuroto Dan, his son, are missing. Emu vows to help investigate to find out why Kiriya was killed, and though Hiiro says that isn't a doctor's job, he leaves with Asuna anyway. On their way back to CR, Emu and Asuna are met by Kuroto. Emu reveals what Masamune had said, that the Bugster virus was born from the Y2K fiasco seventeen years prior; additionally, Kuroto had caused Zero Day and blamed his own father.

Kuroto blocks Emu's attempt to leave, the two transforming to fight. Brave Level 5 Full Dragon duels Kaiden as Ex-Aid Double Action Gamer Level XX faces Genm in a quarry, but an arriving Snipe Level 50 is intercepted by Para-DX Fighter Gamer Level 50 eager to fight.Ex-Aid's Level XX halves hit Genm with a Gun Mode Action Robots Critical Finish, knocking him out of his transformation as Brave defeats Kaiden with a Muscular Energy Item and Drago Knight Critical Strike, curing and freeing Heiji; Kaiden's debris are collected by Kuroto with the Gashacon Bugvisor. The Riders untransform and Heiji hides as Kuroto explains the "ultimate game", Kamen Rider Chronicle: a life or death survival game where civilians are turned into Riders to fight Bugsters. He proclaims that this game will bring excitement to unsatisfied people, and compares his talent at making this to that of the gods. Emu vows to settle this for Heiji's son, Saki, and Kiriya, but Kuroto transforms again, this time with a giant explosion of purple clouds and lightning. Hiiro explains that "X" is the unknown variable, making Genm's power incalculable. Emu transforms to Ex-Aid Level XX again, hitting Genm with an Axe Mode and then a Blade Mode Mighty Brothers Critical Finish, but Genm fires to intercept the second attack and vanishes.

At CR again, Heiji is confirmed clean of the Bugster virus and vows to find Kuroto's hideout to stop him once and for all. Watching, Poppi admires Emu's devotion to past patients lost as well as current ones, Hiiro agreeing before Poppi steals a bite from his cake. As Heiji climbs out of the patient bed, however, he slips and falls again.

Poppi and Emu are reeling from the revelations about Zero Day and Kamen Rider Chronicle. The Riders respond to an emergency call, Emu and Asuna arriving to find the Charlie Bugster from Shakariki Sports running rampant on a bicycle around the Ministry of Health personnel at a skate park, Emu transforming into Ex-Aid Double Action Gamer Level XX. Hiiro, Taiga, and Parad arrive and transform to Brave Quest Gamer Level 2, Snipe Simulation Gamer Level 50, and Para-DX Puzzle Gamer Level 50 and begin fighting.

Unable to keep up with Charlie, Level XX Orange sends Blue to distract him on the Sports Gamer with an Instigate Energy Item; Orange nabs a Muscular Energy Item, and as Blue leads him by, hits Charlie with the Gashacon Key Slasher. Charlie pulls back inside, revealing the patient to be Kuroto; with Brave and Snipe distracted by this, Para-DX leaves, knowing they've given up fighting him. Kuroto says he doesn't know how he got infected, but as the Ministry of Health personnel attempt to take him away, Emu says he's a patient of CR first and foremost, Hiiro backing him up by saying that they couldn't handle his infection breaking out again; the personnel leave Kuroto in CR's care, Kuroto whimpering thanks to Emu.

In CR, Asuna berates Kuroto before Emu stops her. His plan ruined, Kuroto tells all: in 2000, he was working in game development at Genm Corp. under his father, designing a host of games (which would later become used for the Gashats) he was convinced were the best; however, he received a letter from a young Emu containing ideas for games even better than his, the realization he wasn't the best beginning to drive him mad.

At the modern Genm Corp., Taiga and Nico are presented with a blank silver double Gashat by Tsukuru, to be used for a game for a monk fighting zombies; the entire room collapsing and taking a second to recover from the announcement, the pair less than impressed. Hiiro arrives with Kiriya's laptop, wanting to add its data to the Gashat. Kuroto planned to use the Bugster virus to make the ultimate game, sending a demo of Mighty Action C to Emu containing the virus, infecting him as the first Bugster patient. Hiiro explains the data's reprogramming method of treatment: it can directly undo the alterations the Bugster virus made to the DNA of a patient.

Falling out of the patient bed, Kuroto continues with how he sent Michihiko Zaizen to extract the matured virus from Emu six years ago; Bugster eyes glowing red, Emu sits in anger listening to how all of the Bugster viruses came from his original infection. Kuroto accepts if Emu wants to let him die, but Emu's eyes stop glowing and he lifts Kuroto back to the bed, as a doctor can't hold grudges against their patient. Kuroto's infection flares, and Emu says he still has to atone as he transforms into Ex-Aid Level XX and Stage Selects them to a pier, fighting Charlie again.

Ex-Aid keeps fighting Charlie, defeating him with Mighty Double Critical Strike, this time not involving retaking Level X; immediately after being freed, Kuroto absorbs Charlie's debris with the Gashacon Bugvisor. He reveals that he'd infected himself using the Bugvisor when the Ministry raided his hideout, and everything after that had been an act, CR only being a place to hide and buy time; Emu is the easiest person to fool. Cackling madly, he transforms into Genm Level X, attacking and overpowering Orange and Blue; he triggers Critical Dead, summoning a horde of Genm Level X's instead of shadow zombies, duplication a standard zombie power, the attack corrupting Emu's Gamer Driver and rendering it unusable. He has crushed the glowing crystal of Emu's heart after foolishly being trusted; for his help, Emu can live.

Some time between this point, when Hiiro discovers the data in Kiriya's computer, he lets Emu and Poppy know, telling them that there was a video of Kiriya stating that they needed to clear the game attached to the file, Bakusou Treasure. Hiiro is the first to try the game, and gets a game over when he chooses to fight Motors, instead of choosing the Talk or Run options. Once Hiiro takes off the VR headset, Emu takes it and places it on his face, before entering the game, transforming into Ex-Aid's level 2 next to the level 1 Lazer. Instead of choosing the Fight option, Ex-Aid decides to go with the Talk option, only for this to fail as well. Seeing this, Ex-Aid chooses the Run option, with Ex-Aid and Lazer running away from Motors, who follows on foot.

The two continue to run, before Ex-Aid spots an energy item, and uses it, transforming himself into a Bugster temporarily. Using this disguise, he manages to trick Motors into telling him where the treasure is. Using this information, Lazer and Ex-Aid head to the location, where they find a yellow door. Arriving at the door, Ex-Aid chooses to open the door, before being attacked by Genm, armed with the Bugvisor, who quickly gives Emu a Game Over, but Lazer calls Emu "Ace" before he fades back into the real world, leading Emu to think that Lazer is more than just a guide. Hiiro rebukes this claim and says that Kiriya was merely lying again. Emu argues that Kiriya's lies always had some underlying meaning beneath them. Using the headset again, Emu enters the world of Bakusou Treasure again, making the same choices to get to the door again.

Once the two Riders reach the door, Ex-Aid closes the cover of his Gamer Driver and takes out his gashat, reverting back to Emu while inside the game. Emu asks Lazer the meaning behind this game, and Lazer de-henshins, reverting to Kiriya. Kiriya says that this game is a prototype of the Kamen Rider Chronicle game, and that he's trying to prevent Genm from obtaining the dangerous gashats inside. Kiriya also explains that he managed to brea his consciousness into the game, and that the Genm they see is merely the security protocol of the game trying to shut them out. The two agree to team up again, before opening the door and transforming into their level 2 forms, with Ex-Aid riding Lazer. Genm quickly pulls out the Proto Shakariki Sports gashat and transforms into the Proto Sports Action Gamer Level 3.

The two Riders dodge Genm's attacks using Lazer's speed, before Ex-Aid jumps off of Lazer, and turns him back into his level 1 so he can hold off Genm while Ex-Aid gets the treasure. Ex-Aid opens the treasure chest that was behind Genm, and finds out that the "treaure" is the Proto Gashats themselves. Lazer tells Emu to use them, and that he can change fate with his hands. Ex-Aid agrees to use them, and pulls out the Proto Bakusou Bike gashat, before placing it in the second slot of his Gamer Driver, upgrading it to the Combo Revival version of the gashat, before taking it out and replacing it, reopening the Driver.

Transforming into the Bike Action Gamer Level 0, Ex-Aid is able to overwhelm Genm with his incredible speed, before finishing the program off with the Bakusou Critical Strike, throwing the two wheels up in the air, and finishing Genm off with a Rider Kick. Landing next to Lazer, Ex-Aid congratulates them on clearing the game, before Lazer takes the Combo Revival Bakusou Bike gashat and the other Proto gashats and disappearing, leaving Emu back in the real world.

Emu awakens in the real world, and claims that the Kiriya he saw wasn't a program, but was the actual Kiriya, with Hiiro disagreeing and Poppy agreeing with Emu.

In response to letting Kuroto Dan escape and the destruction of Emu's Gamer Driver, Kyotaro Hinata delivers an ultimatum from the Ministry of Health: Emu and Hiiro have two days to stop Kuroto, or they will lose their position in CR and their right to be Kamen Riders. Soon after, CR is alerted to Genm attacking the police forces gathered outside of Genm Corp. Hiiro stays behind to finish the new Gashat, while Taiga and Emu leave to stop Genm.

While Emu is able to transform using Kiriya's Gamer Driver, Ex-Aid and Snipe are overwhelmed by Genm and his army of Bugster grunts, who now share Dangerous Zombie's immortality. Brave arrives in time and throws the Gashat to Ex-Aid, explaining that since Emu's DNA is the basis for all Bugster virus and Gashats, he should be able to create a new game with the Gashat in the same way he created Mighty Brothers XX. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to activate the Gashat, the virus in his body briefly resurfaces, allowing Emu to finally finish the Gashat, which takes the form of Maximum Mighty X.

Transforming into Ex-Aid Level 99, Emu is able to take down all of Genm's grunts and remove Dangerous Zombie's resurrection ability, leaving Genm mortal and vulnerable. However, much to Parad's disappointment and Taiga's fury, Emu refuses to finish Kuroto off, which allows the deranged Game Master to escape again. Taiga berates Emu for not ending Kuroto, to which Emu responds that a doctor cannot choose to end a life even if it means saving countless others.

While chasing after Kuroto, Emu is confronted by Parad. Parad argues that killing a twisted husk of a man like Kuroto doesn't count as taking a life, comparing Genm to the final boss that Emu needs to defeat. Meanwhile, having lost all traces of sanity and fully believing himself a god, Kuroto infects a crowd of people in a desperate attempt to get the final two Bugsters needed to complete Kamen Rider Chronicle. Taiga transforms into Snipe Level 50 to fight Genm, followed quickly by Brave Level 5, who tries to keep Taiga from murdering Genm. Emu finally arrives and transforms into Ex-Aid Level 99, and the three riders defeat Genm once more.

Kuroto tries to transform again, but finds himself unable to even activate his Gashat. Emu reveals that he used Level 99's power to remove Kuroto's compatibility, therefore removing his ability to become a Rider. Acknowledging their shared love of games, Emu expresses his hope that Kuroto will be able to smile again once he has paid the price for his crimes. However, Parad arrives before CR can take Kuroto into custody and infects the Game Master with a massive overdose of Bugster virus. The doomed Kuroto proclaims his so-called godhood and the immortality of his dreams one last time before dissolving into data.

Back at CR, Kyotaro congratulates Emu and Hiiro for defeating Genm, voicing surprise at Emu's somber demeanor. Sometime later, devastated that he let Kuroto die, Emu is seen weeping bitterly on the roof of the hospital.

Through the use of an Ex-Aid Kyutama that inexplicably had been acquired by Shou Ronbou, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid was summoned to a version of the world which had been occupied by the Space Shogunate Jark Matter, coming to the assistance of the Kyurangers Shishi Red and Sasori Orange whose battle against Jark Matter forces had been interrupted by Space Ikadevil, a cyborg monster of Shocker. First appearing as Action Gamer Level 1, Ex-Aid fought off Space Ikadevil, allowing Sasori Orange to get away. Switching to Level 2, Ex-Aid joined forces with Shishi Red and together they used their respective slash attacks (Mighty Critical Finish and Kyu Slash) to destroy Space Ikadevil. Canceling their transformations, Emu and Lucky respectively introduced themselves before wishing each other luck in saving many patients and liberating the universe from Jark Matter before Emu was returned to his world.

At Genm Corp., the new CEO gets a call that a band member has been injured by falling equipment, the patient falling to Emu and Hiiro as a regular patient of Seito University Hospital; Hiiro fixes her internal injuries quickly. Emu accepts that he can't let not being able to save Kuroro get him down, as he has other patients to help; it's also the end of his surgical internship. An argument brings them to the patient's room, where Shido and Shishido, the other members of the patient Sora Iwamoto's band, Neironzu, are arguing about it's future over Sora's objections. The stress of the argument makes all three show signs of the game illness, the Bugsters within controlling them to run outside. Hiiro stays with another patient they knocked over, Emu chasing them outside as the Bugsters break out: Motors Level 20 from Sora, Gatton Level 40 from Shido, and Kaiden Level 40 from Shishido.

Suddenly, someone new appears on a roof, announcing himself as LuckyIcon-crosswiki, the luckiest man in the universe; shot at by Gatton, he falls, but lands on an Energy Item halfway down. Lucky and Emu together transform into Shishi Red and Ex-Aid Double Action Gamer Level X, Ex-Aid upgrading to Level XX to even the odds; Level XX Orange, Shishi Red, and Level XX Blue attack Kaiden, Motors, and Gatton with the Gashacon Key Slasher, Kyu SwordIcon-crosswiki, and Gashacon Breaker, respectively. Gatton and Kaiden soon flee, the heroes using an energized triple slash to stop Motors from escaping, the Bugster retreating back into Sora. Lucky noting that no team helped Emu, Emu says that he has three friends to count on; after Lucky leaves, Emu tells Asuna that he meant Hiiro, Taiga, and Kiriya.

At CR, Sora elaborates to Emu and Asuna on the band's lack of success; they determine the Bugsters will likely attack Seito Stadium, as it had been a dream of the band to perform there. Emu posits that the band members will be able to make up over their shared dream. Hiiro and Taiga, however, have no interest in teaming with him to defeat the Bugsters; Taiga suggests they instead wager Gashats on who can beat them first, Hiiro preferring to work alone. As Emu leaves in defeat, Asuna escorts a visitor to meet the patient; he introduces himself as Ren Amagasaki, Genm Corp.'s new CEO. At Seito Stadium, Taiga and Hiiro separately encounter Kaiden and Gatton, transforming into Snipe Simulation Gamer Level 50 and Brave Hunter Quest Gamer Level 5 Full Dragon.

Ren explains that Sora's band was auditioning to play the theme song for a new Genm Corp. game, lamenting that the company may be forced into bankruptcy if the game is delayed upon hearing that Sora can't be released soon. Not wanting to see her "birthplace" shut down, Asuna reveals her true identity as Poppy Pipopapo, a Bugster from Genm Corp.'s DoReMiFa Beat game; Ren says she will save Genm Corp. He visits Sora, but tells her that her band wasn't selected; the stress from this causes Motors to reemerge, escaping through a computer. Motors speeding by on the Motors Viper, Emu gives chase; as Poppy tries to leave, Ren says he wants her to sing the new game's theme song.

Chasing Motors to Seito Stadium, Emu transforms to Ex-Aid Maximum Gamer Level 99; not interested in a race, he speeds in front of Motors and tosses him, hitting him with a Gun Mode Maximum Mighty Critical Finish, reprogramming away his motorcycle to his despair and anger. At Seito Stadium: Snipe is pummeling Kaiden with cannons, Kaiden frustrated his opponent isn't dueling with swords; Gatton's level too high to compete with, Brave snatches an Invisible Energy Item to gain an advantage; and Ex-Aid punches Motors for being annoying. The Bugsters knocked into the same place, Brave snags a Separate Energy item to split into 8; the Riders use Bang Bang Critical Fire, a series of Drago Knight Critical Strikes, and Blade Mode Maximum Mighty Critical Finish to destroy the Bugsters, curing and freeing the patients.

As Taiga and Hiiro argue over who defeated them and gets the Gashats, Emu goes to the patients; the three bandmates apologize for their behaviors, agreeing to work things through. Suddenly, Sora collapses again, Emu determining that her stitches have broken from the excessive activity; Hiiro takes over care as Taiga calls an ambulance, Nico noting their effective teamwork.

Emu is in CR with Hiiro, moping over Poppy's recent absence, but they receive an emergency call, then another, and another. Emu goes to a construction site and diagnoses a patient with a new version of Salty's game illness before they take out a Gashat and transform into a Ride-Player, racing off. Emu chases him to a crowd of Ride-Players fighting Salty and his cook Viruses; Hiiro has meanwhile found other patients transforming to fight Aranbura and his monk Viruses. They transform into Ex-Aid and Brave Action and Quest Gamers Level 2 to help, but the Ride-Players toss them back for interfering.

A new person, Tsuji, walks up and triggers his own Gashat to transform before asking about a tutorial; Poppy Pipopapo appears to explain the game to Ex-Aid's surprise. At his clinic, Nico shows Taiga a commercial for Genm Corp.'s new game, Kamen Rider Chronicle: reality and virtual are mixed, players transform into heroes to fight Bugsters in the real world to gather trophies from beating 13 bosses and unlock the final boss.

Salty easily knocks down the Ride-Players and leaves, but Poppy adds that throughout the game are rare characters called Kamen Riders who will drop special items when defeated; the Ride-Players turn and attack Ex-Aid and Brave. Brave covers his escape with Gashacon Sword flames, while Ex-Aid upgrades to Maximum Gamer Level 99, the Ride-Players seeing they're out-leveled and giving up. Only the first patient stays, but he collapses from the infection, and is taken to CR. At CR, Emu explains the game illness to the patient, Tenma, who wants to defeat Salty himself to cure his own illness; Emu responds to another call.

Emu finds Tsuji and five other Ride-Players fighting Salty and his cook Viruses again, transforming to Ex-Aid Level 2, but Salty reveals himself to now be Level 10. Ex-Aid tries using Mighty Brothers XX, but the Ride-Players attack the "rare character", stealing and using the Gashacon Breaker to knock him out of his transformation, grabbing up his other Gashats to get the Gashacon Key Slasher and Gashacon Sparrow (the Player who took Mighty Action X got nothing, as the Breaker was already claimed by someone else). Emu watches as the Ride-Players attack Salty and the Viruses, Parad walking up and welcoming him to the ultimate game, his dream.

Parad then transforms into Para-DX Puzzle Gamer Level 50, removing Salty and his minions to face the Ride-Players himself; despite their new weapons, they are no match. Para-DX uses Speeding-Up, High-Jump, and Muscular Energy Items to power a Perfect Critical Combo, Hiiro, Taiga, and Nico arriving to see him hit and defeat the six Ride-Players, knocking them out of their transformations, followed by the announcement "Game Over". Tsuji tries triggering his Kamen Rider Chronicle Gashat again, but starts disappearing; Poppy arrives to announce that players only have one life, and those who lose and Game Over will die.

The doctors can only watch as the players digitize and fade away, leaving Emu's stolen equipment behind. Parad untransforms, asks if Emu is having fun, and explains that Kamen Rider Chronicle isn't a game where humans defeat Bugsters, but where Bugsters defeat humans; it's now the disease's turn to hunt the people to extinction.

At CR, Ministry Director Hinata discusses the hardly controlled situation with Emu and Hiiro; players are infected with the game illness upon using the Kamen Rider Chronicle Gashat, and many have already died of Game Overs. Emu wants to warn everyone of the danger, but Hinata says it would cause uncontrolled panic and places the doctors on standby. The patient, Tenma, overheard this and mocks the doctors' lack of help, taking the Gashat to cure himself by defeating Salty; Emu chases him despite being on standby.

A Ride-Player is fighting Salty Level 10 and losing as Tenma arrives and transforms into a Ride-Player. Emu arrives and transforms into Ex-Aid Action Gamer Level 2 to stop them, but Tenma attacks him for interfering. Salty leaves as Ex-Aid says he won't fight Tenma, but the Game Area flashes red with a buzzer; Ex-Aid and Temna are shot back by the Gashacon Bugvisor II, held by Poppy. She reports that Kamen Riders must fight players and that saving players who are patients is against the rules; to punish Ex-Aid for this violation, she uses the Bugvisor II as a Driver and transforms into Poppy Toki Meki Crisis Gamer Level X and attacks.

Tenma leaves, but Snipe Shooting Gamer Level 2 arrives and shoots Poppy, drawing her attention to him. Snipe says Ex-Aid has to fight with his all against all opponents, but Poppy is too agile to bet hit and uses the Bugvisor II Chainsaw Mode to attack the Riders before buffeting them with Critical Crews-Aid, knocking them out of their transformations. Emu tries reminding Poppy how much she'd helped them, but she leaves. Parad arrives to tell Emu that Poppy's memories ("save data") have been reset; she was made by Kuroto only to gather data from CR, and was now back as her true Bugster self. He also explains that game villains were made evil so that players could relieve stress by fighting them: Bugsters were made the threat to humans they are by humans. However, Bugsters are living beings, not just pawns, and Kamen Rider Chronicle will determine whether humans or Bugsters are more fit to survive.

At CR, Hiiro explains to Emu that they were put on standby to prevent the Ride-Players from fighting them, and they can't operate properly when their patients see them as enemies, however much it may frustrate them; Emu, however, is determined to help even if he isn't wanted, and leaves. Director Kagami arrives at CR criticizing Emu's actions, saying they are only doctors because the Ministry recognized them, but Hiiro questions if a medical degree alone makes one a doctor; deciding a true doctor needs something more, he follows Emu.

Salty and Aranbura easily fight the Ride-Players, knocking them back with their electricity and fire attacks. Para-DX Puzzle Gamer Level 50 joins them, but Emu runs up; he knows he can't save every patient, but he'll fight to save as many as he can. Knowing Emu's action against his word, Hinata follows him and announces to the reporters that their rumors are true; as Taiga and Hiiro join Emu, Hinata goes on to press that the CR doctors are there to help and save all those infected.

The doctors transform into Brave Hunter Quest Gamer Level 5, Snipe Simulation Gamer Level 50, and Ex-Aid Maximum Gamer Level 99, and Hinata says the doctors are experienced at fighting the Bugsters and to please trust them. As Salty fights Snipe and Aranbura fights Brace, Para-DX attacks Ex-Aid to no effect, Ex-Aid leaping out of the Maximum Gamer to fight Para-DX directly. Snipe brushes off Aranbura's spells, and Ex-Aid retreats to the Maximum Gamer to keep fighting Para-DX, who switches to Fighter Gamer Level 50; Ex-Aid leaps from the Gamer again to avoid a fire wave and lets the mech attack on its own. Brave easily fights Salty and knocks him to Aranbura, he and Snipe hitting and defeating them with Drago Knight Critical Strike and Bang Bang Critical Fire. Ex-Aid hits Para-DX with Blade Mode Maximum Mighty Critical Finish, forcing him out of his transformation and to teleport away.

Emu confirms that the six Ride-Players are cured of their game illness and asks that they return their Gashats; they hesitate, but Tenma stands up for the CR doctors' credibility and hands his over, the others following his lead.

In the wake of the Ministry of Health recalling Kamen Rider Chronicle, Genm Corp. CEO Ren Amagasaki broadcasts an announcement to the public: Kamen Rider Chronicle's "Game Over" is not a defect but a feature, and after the final boss is defeated, all erased players will be revived, punctuating the speech by transforming into a Ride-Player and telling everyone they can be a hero. "Hero" catches Nico's attention and she races off. Naturally, the doctors are convinced that reviving players is simply a lie to keep the game in circulation, but they are called to a Bugster attack. Emu and Hiiro arrive to find Revol and his soldier Viruses knocking a female Ride-Player out of her transformation, but as they transform into Ex-Aid and Brave Action and Quest Gamers Level 2, Nico arrives and transforms into a Ride-Player, decking her armor out with personal decals before jumping into battle. She defeats the soldier Viruses with bumper car animals before using a Reflect Energy Item against Revol's attack, then rising on a balloon and dropping down with "Nico Critical Kick", defeating him. A small Gashat-like object floats to her, and navigator Poppy arrives and says the Bang Bang Shooting Gashatrophy shows she defeated Revol, and is the first Ride-Player to defeat a Bugster.

The first Ride-Player says she only started the game to revive her boyfriend who'd gotten a Game Over, but Nico starts showing signs of the game illness, and is rushed to CR; Taiga arrives to find her diagnosed with Vernier's infection. Nico explains she's tired of watching from the sidelines and this is her chance to be a hero too—as if she would ever lose. Her source of stress is being unable to game, and she berates Taiga for trying to make her stop when he never would, for never doing what she asked, and why is it his business to care what she does if he's always trying to push her away? Hiiro drags Taiga out of the patient ward, explaining that Nico doesn't respect him because he never takes her seriously, but Taiga leaves.

Nico inserts herself into the doctors' conference room, still complaining about Taiga despite knowing he's trying to protect her; then a call about Vernier comes in. Emu, Hiiro, and Nico arrive, but Ren steps in their way, admitting he made the call and promising to remove Nico's competition for her, using the Gashacon Bugvisor to become the Lovrica Bugster and summoning maid Viruses and Poppy. The Riders transform into Ex-Aid and Brave Level 2 and Ride-Player Nico, Nico running to fight Vernier but Lovrica stopping the others, Snipe Shooting Gamer Level 2 running in; the maid Viruses knock the Riders around before Lovrica faces them, each of their attacks registering as a Miss despite hitting.

Lovrica explains that his game, Toki Meki Crisis, is about using charm to appeal to and win the heart of the opposite gender—fighting is not the way to win. His maid Viruses' booing and wooing impede the Riders and empower Lovrica, and he knocks them out of their transformations and into a fountain pond, all from the power of expertly refined words. Nico turns to them, and Vernier uses the chance to shoot her out of her transformation as well, Taiga catching her but being pushed away. As Lovrica mocks him for being unlikable, Taiga fires back: he doesn't want to be liked. Unlike other people with futures, he has nothing to lose, and so will carry alone all the burden of fighting so others don't have to; he was happy when Nico chose him as her doctor, and he won't stop her fighting anymore, no matter how many times he has to cure her game illness.

He transforms to Snipe Simulation Gamer Level 50 as the maid Viruses begin to swoon, and he knocks Vernier aside and destroys him with Bang Bang Critical Fire. Emu notices Poppy speak a silent, "Thank goodness." Lovrica tries brushing off Taiga and Nico's touching moment, saying they have no taste; Nico sends the insult back, and the weaponized words knock Lovrica back to human form. He tries to quickly recover his composure before retreating. Taiga and Nico decline joining Emu's "team", saying they'll clear Kamen Rider Chronicle themselves before leaving.

Back at CR, as Emu is leaving for the night, he stops to look at Poppy's arcade cabinet, remembering her smile from after the battle. Could the old her still be there?

In CR, Emu tells Hiiro about seeing Poppy smile earlier, knowing it had to mean she was still in there. They get a call and head out, Taiga and Nico meanwhile following a lead on new Salty and Aranbura appearances. Para-DX Puzzle Gamer Level 50 is using a Speeding-Up Energy Item to terrorize a lone Ride-Player when Emu and Hiiro arrive, transforming into Ex-Aid Maximum Gamer Level 99 and Brave Beat Quest Gamer Level 3. Ex-Aid grabs Para-DX as Brave runs to the Ride-Player, but as he tells them to flee, red lights and sirens blare. Poppy arrives to reiterate that Riders aren't allowed to help Players, transforming to Poppy Toki Meki Crisis Gamer Level X and zapping Hiiro out of his armor with the Gashacon Bugvisor II Beamgun Mode.

The Ride-Player rages at being ignored and attacks Poppy, but is slashed by the Bugvisor's Chainsaw Mode and knocked out of his transformation, Poppy saying that being DoReMiFa Beat's Bugster, she can also attack players. Ex-Aid pushes Para-DX aside and reminds Poppy that she once said not all Bugsters are bad; Para-DX uses Speeding-Up and Muscular Energy Items to attack him, but his strikes are ignored. Poppy shoots Ex-Aid over, Para-DX telling Ex-Aid to fight him, but he is knocked aside as Ex-Aid uses Maximum Mighty Critical Finish to overpower the Bugvisor's beam and hit Poppy out of her transformation. Emu walks over, explaining that he used his Reprogramming ability to return Poppy to her old self, and welcoming her back. Parado, however, insists that as a Bugster she's on his side, grabbing and leaving with her.

Back at CR, the Ride-Player, Ken Samejima, is diagnosed with Poppy's infection, saying that he started Kamen Rider Chronicle because he loves survival games and is eager to defeat Poppy to cure himself, accusing Emu of siding with his illness when he insists Poppy is a good Bugster. Hiiro, meanwhile, is pondering why Parado seems so obsessed with fighting Emu and Emu alone. After Emu reports the situation, Hiiro easily concludes that defeating Poppy is the way to save the patient; Emu wants to save her too, but Hiiro reminds Emu that, as a complete Bugster, Poppy already overtook someone's body in the past. Sitting at her game cabinet that night, Emu thinks over what Parado and Hiiro said about Poppy.

The next morning, Nico admires the Mighty Action X and Taddle Quest Gashatrophies she easily acquired yesterday, finding someone's spotted Poppy before she and Taiga head off to get one step closer to clearing Kamen Rider Chronicle; Hiiro also hears, calling in Emu. Poppy is sitting despondently and watching street dancers from afar before two Ride-Players attack the "monster", Poppy reluctantly transforming to Level X. Ride-Player Nico and Snipe Simulation Gamer Level 50 quickly arrive, Nico attacking Poppy and Snipe scaring away the other Players before joining Nico. Emu and Hiiro arrive and take Ex-Aid Level 99 and Brave Level 3 as Parado takes Para-DX Fighter Gamer Level 50, Brave leaving Ex-Aid to face Para-DX as he attacks Poppy as well.

Poppy is being beaten by her opponents as Ex-Aid notices she's not fighting back, Snipe shooting her out of her transformation. Brave, Snipe, and Nico close in to finish Poppy, but Ex-Aid grabs Para-DX and ejects from the Maximum Gamer, leaping over and knocking the others aside, standing to protect Poppy. As they argue, Poppy breaks down crying; she came to life by taking another, and Bugsters are humanity's enemy, she doesn't deserve to be helped. Emu untransforms and tells her to fight him if that's true, putting the Bugvisor in her hand and pressing the Beamgun to his chest, but she can't bring herself to fire; she doesn't want to hurt people, but to have fun playing DoReMiFa Beat with them. Emu agrees that they'll do this, and as she cries on his shoulder, the game is cleared, curing the patient; Parado watching angrily.

Taiga concludes that making Poppy smile cleared the game, Hiiro and Poppy both apologizing for their recent behaviors. Nico, on the other hand, warns her not to turn on them again, chasing her when Poppy calls her "scary". The group follows them until they run into Parado again, frustrated at how Emu will play with Poppy but not fight him; they are destined to fight. Parado then says to Emu, "You…are me," turning into red and blue dust and jumping into Emu, his eyes glowing red as he challenges the Riders to fight him.

Parado has absorbed into Emu and challenged the other Riders, transforming into Para-DX Fighter Gamer Level 50; Hiiro and Taiga quickly transform into Brave and Snipe Quest and Shooting Gamers Level 2 but are quickly knocked down, "Emu" quitting as a doctor and leaving. "Emu" walks into the Bugsters' hideout, Parado jumping back out and deciding he has to Level Up to get Emu to fight him properly. He tries using the Gashat Gear Dual in a Gamer Driver, but nothing happens, as only humans can use that kind of Driver. Emu demands an explanation, and Parado says that this was all Emu's wish.

Parado drags Emu to a park to explain: as a kid, Emu would think up games because he wanted someone to play with, and Parado was formed from those desires as the Bugster that grew from his infection. He absorbs into Emu again and transforms to Ex-Aid Double Action Gamer Level XX, Parado taking over Orange with Emu as Blue. Orange fights Blue, but Blue doesn't fight back, Orange tossing over the Gashacon Key Slasher and Maximum Mighty X Gashat to help even the odds, but Blue still doesn't fight. Then Orange says he started Kamen Rider Chronicle just so they could fight, and erasing humans was also part of Emu's wish. Meanwhile, Nico switches her quest for vengeance from Emu to Parado. Poppy wants to save Emu because he saved her, Hiiro sarcastically thanking Kuroto for their situation; the name, however, triggers a memory in Poppy about her host knowing a young Kuroto mentioning infection countermeasures. Hiiro and Taiga are called in to Ex-Aid Level XX's fight with "himself", realizing Parado is controlling Orange.

Parado explains that their memories and DNA are the same, and it was him reentering Emu that saved his life when Kuroto revealed that Emu had the game illness; he has controlled Emu's fate, and Emu can't change it, challenging him to prove otherwise. Blue finally fights back, knocking Orange down and hitting him with Maximum Mighty Critical Finish, using Reprogramming to fuse human genes into him and knock him out of his transformation, Emu's canceling as a result. Far from losing, Parado reveals that he can now use Genm's old Gamer Driver to Level Up, using the Gashat Gear Dual and fusing its games to become Para-DX Perfect Knock Out Gamer Level 99.

Hiiro and Taiga become Brave Level 2 and Snipe Simulation Gamer Level 50, but Level 99 is too strong to hurt. Para-DX summons the Gashacon Parabragun, using Gun Mode to fire a 3-shot chain attack at Snipe, nabbing an Iron-Body Energy Item for his weapon and Separation for himself to trigger multiple Perfect Critical Finishes, the attack blocking Snipe's Bang Bang Critical Fire before hitting him with iron-covered shots and defeating him, knocking the Gashat Gear Dual β loose. Emu wants to fight but his infection is flaring, preventing him from acting. Brave grabs the Gear Dual β and takes Brave Fantasy Gamer Level 50; Para-DX switches the Parabragun to Axe Mode for close combat.

He uses a 7-times power slash attack before using Muscular and Speeding-Up Energy Items for Knock Out Critical Finish; Brave counters with Taddle Critical Slash but is defeated. Fighting against his infection, Emu becomes Ex-Aid Maximum Gamer Level 99, using Mighty Critical Break against Para-DX's Perfect Knock Out Critical Bomber, the attacks hitting and stopping each other, but knocking Emu out of his transformation. Taiga and Hiiro try to get Emu away, but Parado jumps back into him and leaves, mocking Nico for losing to him six years ago.

At CR, Poppy is panicking; though she knows where the Bugsters' hideout is, Parado would still be able to control Emu's body to keep from being defeated. Poppy reveals what she'd found at Kuroto's hideout, the Level 0 Proto Mighty Action X Origin Gashat and its "void ability" to inhibit the Bugster virus: this could suppress Parado's ability to control Emu; Taiga, however, insists it's too dangerous to use, likely predating the Proto Gashats. The doctors respond to an emergency call to find Motors, still without his motorcycle, beating up a Ride-Player. Asuna and Nico transform to Poppy Toki Meki Crisis Gamer Level X and Ride-Player Nico, Poppy's eyes now blue as she's no longer being controlled; they get Motors away from the Player, but he takes out his former bike's handlebars and speeds away on foot.

Emu walks up, claiming to have gotten away from Parado, but accidentally says "ore" instead of "boku" for "I", revealing himself as Parado, who jumps out and becomes Para-DX Perfect Knock Out Gamer Level 99, condemning Poppy's betrayal and knocking Nico aside. Hiiro and Taiga take Brave and Snipe Hunter Quest and Shooting Gamers Level 5 Dragon Blade and Gun to join the fight, but can't accomplish anything. Para-DX uses a 3-times power Gashacon Parabragun Gun Mode shot to defeat everyone but Poppy, switching to Axe Mode and defeating her with a 6-times power slash. He is about to slash Asuna before Emu shouts to stop, fighting through his infection symptoms to stand; this is what Parado was trying to do, fire Emu up to full conviction, something that couldn't happen when only he was in danger. Emu leaves the new patient to Hiiro and clearing Kamen Rider Chronicle to Taiga and Nico before leaving with Parado to a setting of the Bugster's choice, intent on defeating Parado himself.

Meanwhile, Parado has led Emu to the Next Genome Institute lab where he'd been removed from Emu by Michihiko Zaizen six years prior, the beginning place a fit setting for the end. They transform into Ex-Aid Maximum and Para-DX Perfect Knock Out Gamers Level 99, Ex-Aid Stage Selecting to an abandoned excavation site. As Ex-Aid and Para-DX fight, Ex-Aid ejects from the Maximum Gamer to fight directly, a strong hit knocking them both below half health. They duel with Key Slasher and Parabragun, the strongest human and the strongest Bugster fighting one-on-one at the same Level. Ex-Aid and Para-DX keep fighting, knocking each other back. They go at each other with Blade Mode Maximum Mighty and Axe Mode Knock Out Critical Finishes, the resulting explosion knocking them both back with only Para-DX still standing, Emu's transformation reverting and returning them to the lab. Emu wonders how he could lose to an equal opponent, but Para-DX explains that he was the origin of "Genius Gamer M", and Emu can't beat the original master gamer.

He is about to strike Emu when Hiiro, Taiga, and Nico arrive, but he knocks Hiiro and Taiga down before they can transform. Para-DX turns back to Emu, but he is shot from behind by the Gashacon Bugvisor II wielded by what appears to be Genm Action Gamer Level 2, but with silver instead of purple suit details. Poppy walks up to identify them as Genm Level 0, telling them to take Emu and leave, but they instead attack Para-DX, calling themselves the "Game Master"—it's Kuroto. He stumbles around in his attack with the Bugvisor Chainsaw Mode, getting knocked back. Parado untransforms and tries to take over Emu again, but can't; the Game Area generated by the Level 0 Gashat inhibits Bugster abilities. Parado simply leaves.

Kuroto is moving into Poppy's arcade machine, taking over and redecorating the left half of the room black; he's also claiming his new name is "New Kuroto Dan", impressing nobody. He credits his return on his preparation for a possible Game Over. Poppy says she brought him back to help free Emu from Parado's control and wants him to apologize for everything he did wrong, but he feels he never did anything requiring apology. All of the people who died playing Kamen Rider Chronicle: their 'data' isn't gone. CR gets an emergency call before he can elaborate, with Emu, Taiga, and Nico responding, leaving Poppy and Kuroto; Hiiro leaves, claiming having an operation to perform, but secretly leaves with the Gashat Gear Dual β.

Charlie has stolen a female Ride-Player's bicycle and is terrorizing her on it. Emu arrives and becomes Ex-Aid Maximum Gamer Level 99, knocking down Charlie before Parado arrives to deal out Emu's bad ending for losing their last fight. Asuna arrives and releases Kuroto from the Bugvisor II to help Ex-Aid, but he instead attacks Parado for his previous betrayal; the two take Genm Action Gamer Level 0 and Para-DX Perfect Knock Out Gamer Level 99 as Ex-Aid goes after Charlie.

He uses a Stretch Energy Item to catch up with and knock Charlie off of his flying bicycle, but Nico arrives and defeats Charlie with a "Nico Critical…(pause to confuse the enemy)…Punch!", curing the Ride-Player and getting the Shakariki Sports Gashatrophy. Para-DX is easily beating Genm, but while pulling him up by his collar, Genm grabs his arm; because of Level 0's void ability, contact with a Bugster can reduce its level, dropping Para-DX from Level 99 to Level 75 in seconds before he gets knocked away. Genm clarifies that his Gamer Driver compatibility returned by being reborn as a Bugster with human genes. Genm rushes, but Para-DX uses Knock Out Critical Smash and depletes Genm's Rider Gauge, making him Game Over again. However, everyone is shocked as Kuroto emerges from a purple pipe labeled "Continue", explaining that Proto Mighty Action X Origin was an alpha version Gashat, and comes with the ability to Continue from a Game Over, meaning Para-DX only cost him the first of 99 lives. Bored by this development, Para-DX leaves.

Emu and Asuna console the patient, who explains that her young son played Kamen Rider Chronicle but lost and disappeared, so she started playing to try and win to revive him; she doesn't care what happens to her in the process. Kuroto comments on her bravery, and Asuna suddenly remembers her host. Hiiro is called back to CR with the group as Poppy explains that her host was Sakurako Dan, Kuroto's mother; she'd been at the Seito University Hospital until 6 years prior, but no death was listed, Poppy speculating that Kuroto infected his mother with the Bugster virus instead of letting her die normally, creating Kamen Rider Chronicle so her data could be preserved. Kuroto, however, insists he made Kamen Rider Chronicle to preserve his own talents. Emu is angry that Kuroto treats lives like a game, while Hiiro asks if lost people can really be brought back, squeezing something in his pocket and leaving when he isn't answered.

Taiga and Nico confront him on the roof, realizing he hopes to revive Saki by clearing the game, and has already collected the Bakusou Bike Gashatrophy. Kuroto has found a report of Parado, and Emu stops Poppy from stopping him from leaving; he says Kuroto doesn't understand the value of live by its fragility, but Kuroto says he's saving life as data to preserve it like doctors never could. Emu can't work with someone like this. Taiga says that they can use Kuroto to defeat the Bugsters, with Nico pointing out that they now have 7 Gashatrophies, almost enough to challenge the boss Bugsters. Kuroto teleports out to face Parado, Poppy following.

Para-DX Level 99 is at a dam fighting a pair of Ride-Players as Kuroto arrives and becomes Genm Level 0; Para-DX easily fights Genm, Poppy insisting the Riders need to work together, taking Poppy Toki Meki Crisis Gamer Level X when Genm refuses, and using Critical Crews-Aid to knock Genm out of his transformation. She untransforms as Emu arrives, kneeling down to thank Kuroto for bringing her to life and giving her an identity, considering him to be her father, again asking Emu to forgive him. As punishment for siding with the humans, Para-DX uses Gun Mode Zombie Perfect Critical Finish (briefly affected by Dangerous Zombie's power) against her; she tries to protect Kuroto, but the sound of her heartbeat inspires Kuroto to push her aside and quickly transform again to take the hit, dying.

Reviving again, he vows to protect the life he created, Emu calling his extra lives chances to atone, and though he can never forgive Kuroto for his actions, and Kuroto won't be asking him to, Emu does agree to work with him to stop the Bugsters and Kamen Rider Chronicle. They transform to Ex-Aid Level 99 (ejecting from the Maximum Gamer), who will win without continues, and Genm Level 0, who will use continues to win if need be. Armed with the Gashacon Parabragun (Para-DX), Key Slasher (Ex-Aid), and Breaker (Genm), the fight quickly becomes an Energy Item fest, Ex-Aid knocking an Invisibility to Genm to sneak in and grab Para-DX to lower him to Level 76 before getting thrown off, flying right into a Stretch to reach back and grab him again, lowering him to Level 50.

They duel and disarm Para-DX, all three grabbing a Speeding-Up and jumping on generated chocolate blocks to fight at blinding speeds. Para-DX is knocked down as Ex-Aid and Genm use Maximum Mighty Critical Finish to rapidly slash and defeat him, Para-DX teleporting out and dropping the Dangerous Zombie Gashat, which Genm retrieves.Back at CR, Poppy asks everyone to put aside Kuroto's misdeeds until Kamen Rider Chronicle is beaten, and as a token of good will, Kuroto has presents for everyone. For Emu, the DoReMiFa Beat Gashatrophy for freeing Poppy from her brainwashing; for Taiga, a second Gashat Gear Dual β, meaning both he and Hiiro can take Level 50 at once; for Hiiro, an answer to his question—the data from people who vanished due to the Bugster virus is stored in the Proto Gashat of the virus that infected them, meaning that once the game has been won, they can indeed be saved; and for Nico, a large lollipop, which she starts eating even as she's still threatening him. With the team agreeing to work together, and the 9 low and mid tier Gashatrophies gathered (Giri Giri Chambara's having been collected in the meantime), it's time to challenge the high tier.

Masamune Dan is released from prison as Ren Amagasaki, Graphite, and Parado prepare to enter the fray of Kamen Rider Chronicle themselves. At CR, Kuroto says that the Proto Gashats were confiscated from him by the Ministry of Health when they raided his hideout, Hiiro deflecting questions of him wanting to revive Saki. An emergency call leads the doctors to find Para-DX Perfect Knock Out Gamer Level 99, Lovelica, and Graphite toying with a lone Ride-Player with a bad back; Emu, Hiiro, and Taiga become Ex-Aid Maximum Gamer Level 99, Brave Fantasy Gamer Level 50, and Snipe Simulation Gamer Level 50 as Graphite takes a new red form, Guren Graphite.

Ex-Aid and Para-DX fight as even opponents; Snipe fights Graphite, Graphite revealing he is now Level 99; and Brave faces Lovelica, his attacks as useless as ever. Hiiro and Taiga are knocked out of their transformations, when the Ride-Player races in again and tells Para-DX to stop, getting slapped aside, his transformation reverting to reveal Director Kagami; Hiiro calls a retreat.

Director Kagami is diagnosed with Lovelica's infection, begging them not to let the Ministry know he's been playing the banned Kamen Rider Chronicle; he joined to win and bring back Saki for Hiiro, but accomplished nothing. Hiiro asks his father to get the Proto Gashats from the Ministry for Saki's sake; he also reveals to Emu and Asuna that his father is who he's always looked up to as a doctor. Masamune has returned to his old desk in Genm Corp., his employees welcoming him back and begging for help against the ineffective new CEO. Ren confronts him and, threatened with the Bugvisor II, reveals it can only be used by Bugsters.

CR goes over its game plan: they have 9 Gashatrophies, and need the last four from Lovelica, Graphite, and both of Parado's forms to challenge the final boss and clear Kamen Rider Chronicle, and they'll need a team effort, deciding to target Lovelica first to cure the Director. Kuroto describes the final boss, Gemdeus, an omniscient, omnipotent god that no one can defeat, leaving only tales of valiant attempts and noble losses for those who try; only Kamen Rider Cronus has the power to defeat Gemdeus, but he can only be used by someone immune to all Bugster virus strains. The Riders and Bugsters prepare for their fight, even as word comes in that the Proto Gashats have vanished from the Ministry's possession, secretly taken by Masamune.

Emu, Hiiro, Taiga, Kuroto, Parado, Graphite, and Ren assemble to fight, Asuna and Nico standing at the ready nearby. They transform into Ex-Aid and Para-DX Level 99, Brave and Snipe Level 50, and Genm Zombie Action Gamer Level X-0, Graphite and Ren becoming Bugsters, and the battle begins. Lovelica calls his "Lovely Girls", but Brave holds him back as Snipe blocks Graphite's attacks and Genm loses another life to keep Para-DX at bay, letting Ex-Aid use Maximum Mighty Critical Finish to Reprogram and delete the Lovely Girls from Lovelica's arsenal, removing his "fight by charm" technique and opening him to physical damage. Asuna and Nico attempt to enter the fight, but a sudden wave flows over the battlefield and turns it from day to night. Masamune walks between the fighters and declares the battle null and void, as Kamen Rider Chronicle is too valuable to let it end so early. Calling the fighters only by their Gashat names, he thanks Kuroto and the Bugsters for completing Kamen Rider Chronicle for him, the creator of Genm Corp. and owner of all of its products.

He uses the Bugvisor II and master Kamen Rider Chronicle Gashat to become Kamen Rider Cronus Chronicle Gamer, explaining that he had infected himself with all strains of the Bugster virus 16 years ago and gained immunity to them. The Riders attack at once, but Cronus triggers "Pause", and in a flash the Riders have all been defeated. The Bugsters attack, but Cronus uses Pause again, freezing time around him; using the Bugvisor II, he shoots Para-DX with Beamgun Mode and slashes Graphite into the path of his own attack with Chainsaw Mode, the Bugsters remaining frozen in mid-impact.

Walking to Lovelica, he says Toki Meki Crisis has lost its value and is discontinued, hitting him with Critical Crews-Aid before triggering Restart as time resumes flowing. The Bugsters are knocked down, but Lovelica fades away, curing Director Kagami; Graphite tries reviving Lovelica like normal, but nothing happens, Cronus explaining that those killed during a time freeze are suspended in permadeath without Continues, shocking Parado. Cronus claims control of Kamen Rider Chronicle and its participants before leaving.

Personality[]

Emu Hojo is a very clumsy and yet a serious doctor to take on his job. However, his thirst for playing video games has a problem of Emu being absentminded at times. An example of this is he sometimes fails to remember his work schedule properly and it makes the nurses scold him. He also has a habitual quirk of tumbling down in various comical ways.

As "M", his alias that he uses when playing video games, he shows a completely different side of himself. He displays a focused, calmer, and more confident demeanor. His Grammatical persona also changes from 僕 ( Boku) into 俺 ( Ore), proving to be extremely skillful at video games, to the point where he has come to be known as the "genius gamer" who never leaves any game unfinished. This carries over to his battles as Ex-Aid, as his knowledge of video games has proven to be a definite advantage. Originally, when shifting to his Genius Gamer M personality, a wind blows throw his hair and he makes a cocky smile. But during episode 10, Emu's eyes instead flash pink before turning a less intense, glowing red, after which, his eyes turn back to normal. Though he still makes the same cocky smile as before, showing that he can actually shift into his gamer persona at will.

Emu has a very idealistic attitude towards being a doctor: he invests himself in the well-being of his patient, hoping to help them both physically and personally. He will always try to help a patient in need, even if they are a criminal, an enemy, or refuses to get help. For him, a life is a life and it's worth saving, fitting the morality of a true doctor and their devotion to the Hippocratic Oath. This mindset helped him connect stress as a catalyst for Bugster infection, but also hinders him if the enemy is smart enough to threaten the patient's life. His firm idealism has led to clashes with his fellow CR Rider, Hiiro. Hiiro views Emu as naive and inexperienced, while Emu openly opposes Hiiro's detached and callous approach, going as far to say Hiiro is not a real doctor.

However, Emu is not without a dark side. When pushed too far, Emu can lose control of his temper and when that happens his Gamer side becomes as vicious and selfish as his rivals. This was shown when Kyotaro is infected by Graphite. Emu become so frustrated into believing that he's the only one who can save Kyotaro, to the point that he'll do anything to capture the Hunter Gamer, even using a stolen Gashacon Sword. While this shows, that Emu takes pride in his beliefs as a doctor, at the same time it demonstrates that as a Gamer he shares Genm's and even Taiga's ideals to some extent. However, after enlightenment from his idol, Kyotaro Hinata, Emu decide to trust the fellows doctor riders, although only Kiriya believed in Emu.

He even beats Cronus, who was the strongest Rider before Muteki Gamer. For his weapon in combat, he mainly wields the Gashacon Key Slasher from Mighty Brothers XX.

This form, similar to Muteki Mode, are the few ways that can completely shut down the Pause ability of Cronus, as Muteki Gamer and Muteki Mode were both able to move freely even when time was stopped by the former. The main difference between the two, is the time limit, which as stated by Ex-Aid himself, unlike the Muteki Mode for other Riders, which could only give them invincibility for 10 seconds at maximum, his invincibility in this form is infinite, allowing him to deliver powerful attacks to his enemies for any time he wishes.

At first, this form couldn't be accessed due to Emu not having the abilities of Genius Gamer M at that time, as Parado had already completely left his body. However, by injecting Parado into his body using Poppy's Gashacon Bugvisor ll, he regains the abilities of Genius Gamer M, and is able to transform into this form successfully, even without Parado with him.

This form's finisher is the Hyper Critical Sparking (ハイパークリティカルスパーキング Haipā Kuritikaru Supākingu): Ex-Aid performs a series of powerful kicks at the enemy covered with rainbow energy, which will then take effect after a few seconds. During the attack, Ex-Aid can disappear and reappear from another direction to fool his target.

Unlike any other Gashat, this form's finisher is activated by pressing the star button on top of the Gashat to start the finisher standby before pressing it again to activate the finisher.

This form's ending theme is entitled Time of Victory.

Equipment/Abilties[]

  • Gamer Driver: The Transformation Belt Gamer Driver (変身ベルトゲーマドライバー Henshin Beruto Gēmā Doraibā) is a transformation belt for the Ex-Aid Riders. Before someone can properly use the Gamer Driver, they must become a candidate by undergoing a compatibility surgery, which introduces a small sample of the Bugster Virus to their body to induce antibody production. This presumably allows them to handle the side effects of usage, which would otherwise be dangerous. When a Rider gets a game over, the body of the Gamer Driver user will disintegrate into data.
  • Skilled Gamer: Emu is a masterful gamer, particularly in terms of platform gaming. He has extensive knowledge of games in other genres, including Bang Bang Shooting and Bakusou Bike and can adapt easily when playing a new game. These skills are further enhanced when he enters a state of emotional rage or frustration, as shown when he effectively, in separate occasions, outmaneuvered both Genm and Snipe who are both at their Level 3 while Emu is only on Level 2.
  • High Interpersonal Skill: Despite his clumsiness, Emu's kindness has allowed him to connect with all of his patients.
  • Natural Game Disease Immunity: Unlike all other Riders who had undergone a compatibility surgery to be immune from the Game Disease and able to transform into a Kamen Rider, Emu is capable of utilizing the Rider System even without the intervention of said surgery and seems to be unaffected by Bugster infection agents. Kiriya discovered the real reason behind Emu's condition but was silenced by Genm before he can reveal the truth. This unusual immunity is also what enabled the creation of the Mighty Brothers XX Gashat, as the blank Double Gashat injects a massive amount of the Bugster Virus, which will normally kill a Rider when used in the Gamer Driver, even when the Rider has already been immune to the Game Disease. He was the first person to be infected with the Bugster Virus as a kid, and was experimented on by Dr. Pac-Man to develop the later, more recent version of the virus, which is why he has natural antibodies for the virus and such can use the Gamer Driver without the need for an immunization operation.
  • Separation: Due to the Bugster Virus in Emu's DNA, he is able to separate into two different Riders.
  • Gashacon Breaker - Standard sidearm weapon, can be a hammer or a sword.
  • Gashacon Sword - Brave's primary blade weapon that Ex-Aid borrows.
  • Gekitotsu Smasher - Robot Action Gamer Level 3's personal weapon.
  • Trick Flywheels - Sports Action Gamer Level 3's personal weapons
  • Gashacon Key Slasher - Double Action Gamer Level X and XX's personal weapon.

Trivia[]

  • Emu's transformation as Ex-Aid sequence has similarity to the previous riders, especially the concept:
    • His transformation sequence is almost similar to Fourze as there is a ring covering him.
    • His first transformation as the imperfect form of Kamen Rider is similar to almost all riders in Kamen Rider Kabuto. Especially during his transformation into Level 2 which uses the concept of Cast Off from Kabuto.
    • His Level Up sequence to enter a portal is truly similar to Kamen Riders Blade and Garren running through a screen.
    • When triggering Level 2, he announces "Dai Henshin!" (lit. "Great Transformation"), similar to the transformation call of Keisuke Jin when he directly transforms into Kamen Rider X after gaining the Mercury Circuit.
